RP?
A little bit of roleplay never hurt noonez..
The Human Outbreak
--This is an add-on to the Magical College roleplay I have before this one in my list.

Smoke rumbled out of the war machines as they pressed on through the abandoned town. The noise unbearable yet somehow the humans seemed to not mind it. The metal beasts made their way down the streets searching for any stragglers or looters that might be in the area, knocking down lampposts, signs, and small trees in their path. What was once a wand shop was now an enclosure for the rubble that was once the apartment above. The town, in shambles, they had their victory, yet they relentlessly searched for those who may have been left behind. Showing no mercy for those non-human.

This was the Human Uprising. Humans once existed peacefully with other species, lamia, neko, kitsune, dryad, you name it. They had gotten along well and worked out new technologies together, but with the many different species the humans started to wonder. Dangerous curiosity filling their minds before becoming corrupt, what was then curiosity for the advancement and wellbeing for the entirety of all beings became a race for human power alone. Human started getting greedy, no longer sharing their secrets, building up their power before eventually coming to a belief that they were the master race, they had done so much to help the world where was their benefit? Where was their power? They started to attack other races that did not hold the same beliefs as them, that did not agree that humans were the master race and deserved much more than they should. Those who bowed down were put to work in camps, slavery, brothels. Time went by as town after town was being wiped out, soon it turned to countries, continents, and finally planets. Hefnir, the warm mountainous planet now completely taken over was their home base, the housing to the very system of the superior being that was human. All orders came in and out of this planet, the system slowly being conquered. Races thought to be wiped out were being called upon by peaceful planets to take refuge and to hopefully find others. The portals to other systems, peaceful planets, were somehow being turned back on, allowing humans to start their raid farther into the galaxy.

The planet Veryn had been their latest target, the raids coming from not to many kilometers north and venturing south into the more heavily populated areas, wiping cities clean of anything that wasn’t human, and those humans that wanted peace were slaughtered and hung at the entrances of cities if any were available. Bringing a grim reminder that any who dared to oppose the human race would be met with brutality. The humans had only arrived yet had made it so far down south, at this rate the planet would have to be evacuated. The planet itself wasn’t very large but was rich with culture and food. Many would travel here to see the traditions passed down generation after generation as well as drink and eat foods and beverages that had been perfected thousands of years ago. This culture, this beauty, is what the humans wanted to take away.

Small cries in the streets as a baby heard the noise of the machines, upset by it and starving from the day before when the city was first hit, her mother, lamia, coiled loosely around her babe still. Her blood having soaked through the cloth that was the only thing that kept it warm. The cries were silenced by a single spell, heard from across the town. The explosive force it gave off making itself known as it suddenly pinged against something metal. The cries now silenced were now replaced by the rumbling engines that made the war machines tick. An officer raised his hand, halting the machines and troops behind him. Not seeing nor hearing anything he waved his hand forward, the machines clicking and rumbling once more as troops made their way through the city. It was only half an hour before the machines could no longer be heard, the once peaceful town still smoldering from the attack the day before.
Once the troops were out of sight or visual range, a single entity could be seen moving through the streets, trying to get to a safe area before nightfall, Storms were coming and he needed to stay dry. Grabbing what food he could, stealing from the uninhabited food stand and downing a few bottles of water before sticking a few in his backpack and moving on, munching on an old piece of fruit, scraping away the bad bits as he walked and ate.

Up ahead, one of the buildings looked primarily intact, the windows busted but it seemed to have withstood a few shots from the weird machines that the humans had brought with them. It also looked like the humans had raided it, which meant it had to be empty inside, perfect. Darting through the streets under the cover of shadows he made his way into the building, taking a few steps and standing still, listening closely for anything nearby before he finished climbing up the steps to the second floor. He opened the door that had been kicked open, braking from its lock and swinging open. Grabbing a chair he propped it against the door, forcibly keeping anyone from entering or seeing in through the gaping hole where the lock had been. He started checking cabinets, frantically searching left and right on one side of the apartment room, checking for a blanket or something. The months were getting cold, and his last blanket he had to use as a distraction from getting caught by the H troops. Though he hadn’t counted on anyone else being in the town.

Notes:

--Imagine the war machines as metal, almost like a tank but more steampunk and powered by coal and fuels that erode the planets they visited, such fuels outlawed in most systems.

--Mana is in the air of every planet and slowly regenerates everyone’s internal mana, allowing the use of spells, though it is slow. To fully regenerate mana one must meditate for moments, maybe even minutes depending how drained the person is. As babies one does not develop their own mana and therefore cannot use spells until they do so, which is usually around puberty or after a coming of age ceremony.

--Technology besides what humans have is limited to pre 1900’s earth technology without cars and without long distance communication that isn’t a spell. And such spells are very costly to cast. Most technology runs on clean mana or electricity energy, posing little to no threat to its surroundings.

--Unless one has mastered a spell or has practiced it on their own enough to might was well master it, one must use wands to use their magic supply, words contain magic from old languages, though as one gets used to a spell they can cast it silently.

-- Our characters will be anything but human, ranging from elves to centaurs to mermaids that can walk when dry, we will be trying to survive and maybe even push back human forces. More trying to survive than anything else. We will also be learning on the run, our spells are limited to a few abilities such as super strength or a voice that can woo anyone (non magic abilities that each race has or genetically picks up) and those we have learned or will learn in our travels. then we will have regular spells such as fireballs or concealing smoke spells.

-- The plan is to start off with two meeting in town on either an awkward, hostile, or peaceful note, whichever you prefer.
