Okay, the Griffon just opened yesterday at Busch Gardens and I rode it. Of course. How could I call myself a rollar-coaster loving Virginian if I didn't. Anyway, it was NOT the best thing to hit BG in the history of time, as the commercials keep on saying it is. It wasn't even better than Apollo's Chariot. It shook around WAY too much (like Alphenguist) and gave me a headache. The first drop was pretty cool though. When you are about to drop, the thing stops for a few seconds. Then, without warning, you fall down the 90 degree drop like an anvil.

Unfortunately, you don't get to use the tremendous amount of speed you pick up from this drop, because the first thing you do once you reach the ground is go back up. Sure, it's pretty cool going up semi-upside-down, but it slows you down quite a bit. If they put in some corkscrews or some loops, it would have been better, but the whole go back up thing just sucked. Then, when you fall down ANOTHER 90 degree drop, they do it again. You go right back up. And the ride isn't NEARLY long enough. You practically fall out of your seat when you finally stop because you're going too fast. Blegh.

So, I'd have to say it's definitely the SECOND best ride at BG, but Apollo still remains king. I finally got to ride in the front on Apollo's Chariot yesterday too. And, no, it wasn't cuz I was too scared to ride there before, it's cuz God and Buddha didn't want me to ride it all the previous times I tried to. It can be anything from a freak tornado to food poisening via the food place in Ireland (I totally blew chunks in the line) but the last 2-3 times I visited BG, I couldn't ride front. So yesterday I did and it was the best experience in my life to date. I was going so fast tears literally started coming out of my eyes. It totally felt like I was flying.
