From LeBlanc: not the best chapter in the story, but it does set up what is going to happen and why they are where they are and how they got there. Enjoy!
Chapter 2
It was an autumn afternoon like no other, because that day my only friend at the time Liam was taking me out to celebrate my 16th birthday. I had never really felt comfortable celebrating my birthday with my family since I was 10 years old. Since that was the year that they (my parents) told me I was adopted. Still my adoptive parents didn’t feel comfortable with me going to the main city alone so they had forbidden me to go with Liam. Even if it was to celebrate. So once I knew they had left to visit my grandmother for the next few days, I decided to go with Liam to the city anyway.
Off we went, it took a few hours to reach the city but luckily my family and Liam’s family were both rich enough to own our own horse, so we rode most of the way. The real story begins when we had finally entered the city gates.
“Oh wow! It’s so big!’ I exclaimed as we first entered the city.
“Yes it is,” replied Liam. He seemed to be laughing at me slightly, but I didn’t care. The city was so breathtaking.
“Come let us ride further in,” he said as he began to ride forward.
“Oh…OK…so many people!”
“Yes as a city is quite large and busy. Now keep alive and watch out for those people walking.” By the time we stopped and found the tavern were we would celebrate for the night, it was already near dusk. We knew we would not make it back home in time that day, so we put our money together and rented a room at the tavern for the night.
“Now that the horses are bedded, and everything seems sorted out for the night, let us celebrate!”
