Chapter 3
I remember celebrating that night, but what I remember most of all, was the ring. From as young as I can remember, I had this large gold lace bordered ring. I thought it was just a toy and when it broke (at the time I was 7) I cried a little but did not think too much of it. Then at 10 I found out that the ring I had broken 3 years before was actually the one item I had left from my true family. At that point I desperately tried to fix it anyway possible. I remember falling asleep with the still broken pieces in my hand.
The next morning when I woke up, the ring was gone. Both pieces of the ring were missing and I could not find them. For 6 years I had no idea what happened o the ring pieces. That is, until Liam handed me a small box from the opposite side of the table we were sitting at.
“What is this?” I asked him.
“It is a birthday present, open it and you will understand.” When I finally did open it, my eyes in amazement hit a gold lace bordered ring. I took it out and examined it. It was my old ring! It had been fixed at the point where it was once broken.
“I’m no jeweler or anything, but I did my best to try and repair it.” I stuck it on my finger and just glowed with joy and amazement.
“Liam!” I shouted at him, “This is amazing! It’s the best birthday present I could ever get!” Liam simple sat there and blushed slightly.
At that point our food arrived and the waitress hearing a commotion from our table asked what was going on.
“Oh I just got the best birthday present ever! My best friend fixed the one item I still have from my original family!” I place my hand out in front of her and I let her see the ring.
“But it can’t be!” she said slowly backing away from me.
“What? What’s the matter?” Liam asked nervously as we looked at each other. I was truly puzzled on what was going on.
“The…the crest…” she responded before leaving the room in a hurry.
At this point the pother people who were in the room began looking over our way and they seemed to be whispering about us.
“What’s going on? Why is everyone suddenly looking at us?”
“I don’t know?” Liam responded with a nervous shaky voice “Maybe we should go out and take a walk for a bit. This way everything will settle down a bit. It would be froe the best.”
“Yes I agree.” But before we could get out of the room, 2 guards in full armor entered the room and asked who was causing all of the commotion. Quickly Liam grabbed my hand and my cape and pulled me over to the side door.
“You must get out of here now!”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“There here for you Sakura, I know that. I also know more about that ring than you think I know.”
“What?” I say as he is pushing me out the door. “I don’t understand.”
“Don’t worry,” he assured me. “You will soon enough. We will meet back up here tomorrow afternoon. OK?”
“Alright…” I say as I see him already closing the door in front of my face. I know something had started that night, I just didn’t understand how big it truly was.
