Rina is quite the little con artist.
Think about it for a minute; she charges 100-1,000 gold for a bouquet...but we have to supply the flowers for it, as well as the ink to dye the paper and ribbon she wraps it in. What, exactly, are we paying her to do? Is it really worth that much gold to have a perky little NPC bunch together 1-10 flowers and wrap them up? What the heck is so "deluxe" about a bouquet of 10 flowers anyway?
There is also the fact that bouquets, once made and paid for, are pretty much worthless. Sure, you can sell them in the market, but you're not going to make much of a profit - if you can sell them for even half the gold you spent making them, you're doing well for yourself. (If you sell them for more gold than you spent making them, then you're just being cruel to the n00bs.) You can also be nice and give them to your friends as gifts...or you could be really nice and give your friends something that's actually worth all that gold. (Or be nicer still and just give them the darn gold.)
The real kicker, though, is that just about all the other shops in Gaia offer fair deals for game items. For example:
Logan: charges you for fish bait, but also buys the fish you catch, and if you're a decent fisherman you always get more gold for the fish than you paid for the bait.
Peyo: Takes the paper trash you find around town and turns it into wearable hats. For free. Now tell me it doesn't take more effort to make a spiky hat out of recycled paper than it does to wrap up a bunch of flowers.
Moira: Takes the bugs you catch in town and makes them into ink, which you need for the bouquets if you want Rina to dye them pretty colors. (Hmm...maybe she and Rina have a deal worked out?)
Edmund: Turns up his nose at your hard-earned school credits and keeps the Gaian caps and gowns locked up in storage in his back room. (Oh well, at least he doesn't charge you for the privilege of being snubbed in one of Gaia's finest shops...)
Any shopkeeper: buys cans, old boots and tires from you for 1-3 gold. Why they'll buy cans, old boots and tires but not bugs, flowers or paper is unknown.
Granted, some of the above exchanges are better deals than others, but none of them charge you ludicrous amounts for the exchange...except for Gaia's sneaky little florist.
Rina, I'm on to you...
