Do you remember the day you started high school? I know I do. I was never that scared litle niner hiding in the corner, nor was I ever shoved in a locker as none at our school would accomadate someone over the height of 4'7. But I did have your average "I'll forget my locker combination." or "I'll get lost." apprehensions.
But regardless of my original doubts, the year of grade nine was one of the best of my life. With my freezing cold English room, Drama class full of mirrors, music room of preverbial hell(we were that bad), a math teacher full of stories of New Zealand, Africa and other exotic places, it made for an interesting year. I loved the attitude of everyone, not caring if they passed French or gym, and only slightly more concerned about Math and Science.
Now that two years have flown by however, I have to be responsible. I have to be more mature than usual. I have to grow up, but still be limited within the bounds of a child. High school has mysteriously changed over the summer into a stressful place full of-dare I say it-actual work. The freezing English room has a heater now, and the drama mirrors are now used for girls to check their hair. We play beautifully now, and the math teacher sticks to parabolic equations.
So to all you Grade nines out there, enjoy high school. I hope the change doesn't happen to you.
