When you consider the fact that the live, or active, Gaian community is somewhere in the forty of fifty thousands, it is significant when thinking statistic-wise, yet it means very, very little in concept terms. So many mule accounts and one-timers.

That, and many people who never get their account activation e-mails.

But when you really think about it, our accounts are all data on servers. And the admins have to check up on, add to, and play around with the servers in order to keep up with the site's "growing pains". Regardless of what is done with the account (mule, never logged-in, no posts and just lurking and voting all the time, whatever), it's still using space on a server. So it still makes a difference. I'm pretty sure the site can only so much data on so many users the way it is now before Lanzer and Co. have to do something to keep up with the growing demand.
