Ken turned our world upside down one more time.
I was 15 years old when Ken got sober. I don't remember what made this happen or what bottom he hit. He was in AA, mom and I were in Alanon, me in alateen.
Wow life changed. Ken bought a cleaning company, soon mom quit work for the first time in her life, and did the paper work for the company. Mom and Ken went on there first vacation ever. This was truly amazing.
He cleaned big company's in the evening and had a full staff.
I was 16 yrs. old, Ken was now sober for a year.
The nights got longer, and soon he wasn't coming home anymore. It was all over. I new it in my gut. Mom sat quiet at the kitchen table and I went to her. I said he's drinking again isn't he. She said yes, and was very sad. Our conversation wasn't even over when the phone rang.
I sat listening, I new it wasn't good by her tone. She was angry when she got off the phone.
She said Ken is having an affair with one of his workers, and the person on the phone was this womans husband. He told mom that he new what hotel they were at and he was on his way to confront them.
6 hours later another phone call came. The womans husband was stabbed in the heart by a kitchen knife and was murdered.
I know this does not sound real. But every bit of it is real.
My fathers mistress stabbed her husband and killed him. She was found not guilty. She somehow proved it was self defense. Later seeing what this woman was capable of, it was very clear that she was crazy.
My mom broke. She left to stay with my sister in Delaware. I was left at home alone, and remember being very scared at night. I was afraid this woman would come kill me.
