One week ago from today on Wednesday, December 12th, 2007, a man lost his life when he was hit by a white Cadillac on his motorcycle on San Jose Blvd. Unfortunately for me, I was right behind the Cadillac when it happened. I saw the death of this poor man. This man, was an E-8 in the Navy and had been in the Navy for nearly twenty years. He was a good man, and he did not deserve to die. Once I had gotten out of my car and ran over to him, like many other people had, he was already dead. The man in the Cadillac had driven off, fairly quickly, so he wouldn't be there when officials arrived. I hope that he remembers what happened, accident or intentional, and realized that because he fled the scene, he can, in fact, be charged with manslaughter. A prayer for the family and for the deceased.
Almighty Father, eternal God, hear our prayers for Your son Jay whom You have called from this life to Yourself. Grant him light, happiness, and peace. Let him pass in safety through the gates of death, and live forever with all Your saints in the light You promised to Abraham and to all his descendants in faith. Guard him from all harm and on that great day of resurrection and reward raise him up with all Your saints. Forgive him of his sins, though our Lord Jesus Christ, and give him eternal life in Your kingdom. Lord, we ask that you be with the family of Jay. Be there to comfort and love them, to hold them in Your mighty hands, and to assure them that, though a man of their family has died, he did make it into Your eternal kingdom. We ask all of this, in unity of one heart, mind, and faith, through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
