Prince of Persia

A Prince of Persia film, loosely based on the The Sands of Time storyline, is being made. The script is being written by Jordan Mechner, the creator of the Prince of Persia franchise. Jerry Bruckheimer will be the film's producer. Disney is in charge of distribution.

The cast has yet to be revealed. Though, a few pieces of concept art have been released.[4] Earlier, there had been talks of Michael Bay as a possible director; he has teamed up the Jerry Bruckheimer in other works such as The Rock, Bad Boys, Pearl Harbor and Transformers.[5].

An early script was reportedly reviewed by two individual sites, but the authenticity of this script has not been confirmed. It has also been speculated that the film will feature parkour scenes.[3]. The movie will be released on July 10, 2009. [4]

Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have made an offer to Mike Newell to direct "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," a live-action feature based on the video game.

Newell, who last ventured into franchise fare with "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," met executives at the studio to discuss the project this week, and negotiations are expected to begin shortly. The video game has spawned six installments and several spinoffs, prompting studio hopes that the project will have tentpole potential.

"Prince of Persia" has a script by Jeffrey Nachmanoff ("The Day After Tomorrow" wink and video game creator Jordan Mechner. Disney, whose topper, Oren Aviv, will put as many as seven films in production between now and March, recently decided not to race to get "Prince of Persia" into production until labor issues are resolved.

Onimusha Warlords

ComingSoon got their hands on the plot synopsis for the upcoming adaptation of the "Onimusha" video game. The fantasy adventure is set to be directed by Christophe Gans (Silent Hill) and will begin shooting in April of 2008.

In May 2003, Davis Films and Gaga Productions announced its joint venture to adapt the action-adventure game series into a $50 million live-action feature film. According to Davis Films' Samuel Hadida, "It's samurai fighting against demons – it's very close to this simple pitch. There's also a love story woven in. It's a big adventure movie with lots of special effects." Hadida also proposed the possibility of a film franchise.[1] In December 2006, director Christophe Gans said that he had Onimusha lined up to film.[2] The film, budgeted at over $70 million, will begin production in China in February 2008 for a December 2009 release.[3] In a June Article by movie site Ain't It Cool News, it was revealed that Takeshi Kaneshiro will be in the movie, reprising his role as Samanosuke.[4]
