Trapped.
There it is again. This feeling. Different then most others you've ever felt. This feeling that you're...trapped. That you can't move, can't breathe, can't think...

It's scary.

Sometimes it hits you in the most random of places, like in the busy school hallway when you're switching classes. You just stop and...stare. At nothing. You then close your eyes. It's dark. Pitch black. You breathe heavier. You feel consumed by the blackness you can see, you can feel...

The sounds of the hallway fade and die. You hear only short rushes of air around. Suddenly, you're lungs try to inhale, only to find that there's nothing to inhale. Like taking a breath in an airless room.

You stop short. Your mind is racing. You can't see anything but this blackness, you can't move, can't open your eyes...

You feel your body temperature escalting, just as if a fire has burst out in front of you in this airless abyss...but you can't see it's light...just feel it burning at your skin, your lungs, your heart...

You sense something there. In that one instant of black panic, you can FEEL it. You know it's there as clearly as if it grabbed your shoulder and whispered cold words into your ear...

Back to reality.

You come crashing back. Your eyes shoot open and you stumble backwords into the wall, away from the people who walk it. They all seem like faceless forms for an instant before the lights dancing before your eyes fade away slowly, revealing three faces staring back at you.

You know them. In this world, they are your friends. And they're staring at you as if you've just fainted.

You take a deep breath. Good. Oxygen exists here. Your friends ask worryingly if you're ok. You're not sure, and tell them so. They want to take you to the nurse, but you slowly shake your head. Nurses know nothing of this. Your whispers are barely audible, but you're friends nod in understanding and help you up to take you to the bathroom.

You stand in front of the mirror with your friends watching you from behind. Your face is bright red, your eyes glazed over slightly. You splash yourself with water from the sink and nod to the others that you're feeling a bit better. You step out and walk back to class, still inhaling this wonderful thing called oxygen...

But when the lights go out, it gets worse.

You lie awake in your bed, unable to sleep. You watch the dark shadows on your ceiling move as the wind blows the trees outside. You turn over to your clock. The numbers 1:00 glare at you in blood red.

You turn away and recount your dreams over the past few nights, from before you stopped sleeping. They all seem different, but they all end the same way: You being trapped somehow.

In one, your own brother, whom you love deeply, is standing in front of a crowd civilians and police while holding your hands behind your back and pressing a knife blade to your throat...

In another, you've been reconstructed with wires and circuits after a horrible accident, rendering you a half robot. You try to live your life normally, when in school your central circuitboard suddenly fries. You scream in pain and fall to the floor, feeling the pulses of electricity render you senseless...

And still more. You recall one where a man armed with a pistol comes to the school. After coming into your classroom and taking aim at the one person you would die to save, you do just that: jump in front of the bullet and take four bullets straight in the chest, leaving you in a coma, where you can't move at all. All you feel are these four burning holes in your chest...

With every passing dream, you start loosing more and more sleep. Eventually they all loose their details. You're just in blackness until you stop breathing.

Trapped. All of them.

It's for this reason you can't fall asleep. No matter how hard you try, you just know that you'll just end up feeling trapped.

And of coarse you get up and go to school the next day, only to feel the same way as you do in your dreams.

What does it mean? Why are you trapped? How do you get out?

You've got to figure it out. You've got to escape. You've got to get some goddamned sleep.

It's Insomnia. And it won't let go...
