- Internal monologue beginning in three...two...one...It has been thirty seven hours, twenty-six minutes, and nineteen seconds since I learned that I would be leaving my container for the unwanted androids. Maybe unwanted isn't the right word. Is it defective? Broken? Or as some humans would say, ******** up? Though my hard drive doesn't remember being ******** nor pushed up in anyway, I'll still assume that it's a possibility. Although I'm sure that the other androids held here with either miss me terribly, or really not even notice that I've left, I'm not too sure how I'll be reacting to the outside world, it has been quite some time since I've been out and about with humans that don't have their personalities toned down so a simple, well, complicated, android like myself could understand. All these scientists, doctors, and nurses have all learned how to deal with us, not to show their true colors and frustration towards us, they know not to scream, or laugh to loud, or even cry in front of us considering it could possibly send off something in our personality chips. Now I'll be leaving the doctors, scientists, and nurses though. I'm not exactly sure how to act though. Should I be sad to leave the defective ones that will probably never get out of here? Should I be happy to finally be leaving this place? She I be excited to meet other androids that may or may not have spent more time with humans and get to know them? Should I be nervous that these humans could possibly be mental cases and will hate me? Should I be scared of being broken? What if no one can fix me? What if my programs glitch and I accidently hurt someone? What if they all think I'm not ready to be out by myself? There are too many questions, I should stop before I get ahead of myself and glitch...Saving...Saving...Saved. "Internal monologue saved on February 3, 2008 at 11:39:47 pm." she verbalized softly before a smile spread across her pink lips.
Currently seated on a white pillowed bed Kareena's eyes opened only to see that two other had been watching her, a confused and slightly embarrassed look passed over her face before her hands came together at her lap. Children models, for those who were unable to have kids because of one reason or another, were watching her intently. "4TL96E5O7!" cried one of them before dragging along her 'brother'. "Are you really leaving Kareena? Are you really leaving Kareena? Are you really leaving Kareena?" practically yelled the defective android girl who always said everything three times, everything except her name, which she didn't really use right away. "Of course she's leaving stupid. Can't you see the bags? She's leaving us for some boy probably. That right Kareena? For some stupid boy?" The brother was an interesting character, his personality chip was just a little off, just a little. Jealousy and anger came easier to him than any other 'emotion'. Patting the two spaces next to her Kareena's smile slightly dropped, she had grown attached to these two, acting as an almost older sister figure at times. She hadn't told them that she was leaving, she didn't want them to think that she was dying to get away from them. Kareena was actually hoping that she could have slipped out today and a possible rumor could have gone by that she had been deactivated for more violence on her part. Sighing, she waited until they sat down near her. "Yes, yes, and yes. I am leaving, but not for a boy Brayson." she said kindly. That was all she ever was though, kind. It was in her programming to be sweet, subtle, and slightly mothering.
There was a soft knock on the door frame, and Kareena's head shot up from looking at the young android quickly. "Kareena, time to leave." said a young man, one of the main scientists on the floor she was situated on in the building. Sliding off of the bed without looking back at the two currently seated on it she gave the doctor another grin, perfect teeth too white to be human shining his way. Lifting her two bags she stepped outside the door, they were filled with everything thing she had, which was basically clothes, she had no real need for prized possessions. The two younger androids didn't say anything, and Kareena was happy that they didn't, she didn't want her circuits going haywire before she had to go into the check up room. Every time an android left the facility they had to go through a certain procedure where things had to be checked out, she had to get an mars in her coating fixed, and she would be given her own little fix-up kit. Following a few steps behind the man Kareena took a few peeks into the rooms she passed, knowing she probably wouldn't see them again. It felt odd, she had wanted to get out of this place for so long, but now that she was leaving she wanted to stay. "Now Kareena, this will probably take the most of the hour. We may have to shut you off for a few minutes, you know, to restart you. You agreed to that, remember? You'll retain many things, but somethings may be a bit shaky at first. Nothing to worry about really." he said, though she was only half listening. How couldn't she remember the deal on getting out of here? Partial memory erase, rebooting of her main systems, and lastly she would get only part of what she had learned back. The deal overall wasn't very nice, but she had agreed. The temptation, a very human thing, had been too much for her to say no to.
Walking down the halls she saw the all too familiar white room, fluorescent lights and a red lighted sign on top of it that said Do Not Enter was currently illuminated, just for her. Her motors hummed with thought, it was almost like her body was expressing adrenaline. She didn't even realized she had stopped, but there was the young scientist beckoning her closer and into the room. Blinking heavily Kareena nodded and walked into the rooms, where someone took her bags and instructed her what to do. Five minutes later she was laying down on the plastic covered table, a white linen dress covering her up, only a pervert would get turned on by an android though. Female androids were like Barbie dolls, or even manikins, flawless but with enough wear going towards them they can get slightly banged up or marked up, but that can easily be fixed. That was what she was in for though, but still there was more to it then just getting putty placed over the mars and cracks in her form. She had some rewiring to be done and that was never fun for the android or the scientist. Speaking of the scientist, he was currently staring at her with furrowed brows for some reason in which she couldn't place. Pushing the linen dress away from her hip she waited for the man to lift away the small panel that went directly to her shut off. It was placed at a higher level on her being for a reason, just in case she actually needed to be permanently shut off. The gentlemen placed his three fingers over the three slots, which made a beeping sound before the small piece of her lifted off easily. Kareena couldn't help but close her eyes and chew at her soft lips, an awful human-like habit she seemed to have picked up. A few minutes later she opened her eyes, but everything was still dark. She could hear people rushing past her, metal items being laid on her since they would be either used much or very soon.
"Excuse me...excuse me?" she called to anyone that could possibly be rushing about. There was no answer but the sounding and buzzing of something right behind her eyes. It made her shut her eyes, which apparently didn't work at the moment, until she didn't feel anything at all. After a few moments power came back to her wires and circuit boards, her eyes flickered open and light shot into them. She didn't move though, Kareena didn't want to. She felt unsure of where she was, what she was, and who she was until someone called out to her. "Model 4TL96E5O7; Kareena Jayla Dartt, created in 2003, appearance of eighteen, and murderer of Maureen Elizabeth Harmon.", read out a monotone voice from a file obvious belonging to the now clueless android. Something clicked inside the android, she knew who she was, well the basics at least. She was a female model. She was created in the year 2003, only five years before, by a woman named Maureen Elizabeth Harmon whom she...killed? Finally sitting up, metal objects falling off of her before Kareena snatched the file folder from the you assistant's grasp. "Thank you." she said softly before quickly glancing over every paper and then handing it back to the now shaken young person. It was a weird feeling, she knew knew that this person she was reading about was her. Sucking in a deep breath, one that she didn't really need to live or want for the matter, the android smiled then softly asked, "I'm guessing that's all I'm allowed to know?" The scientist looked at her oddly for a long moment before replying with, "You agreed to this Kareena, you know that." Tilting her head to the side she asked, "Did I?" No one said anything, there were just nods all around. "Now let us get the rest of you patched up okay? You're to be leaving today." said the scientist before gently pushing on her shoulders for her to lay back down.
"Right." she said quite simply before a smile once more spread across her lips. Dumbly looking towards the ceiling she began counting the many holes in it, wondering why they were and all sort of random things that she had once the answer to. Her hard drives hummed softly, once more trying to search for any sort of information that hadn't been rebooted. It's no use, recorded her thoughts before the table beneath her her began to bend in half slightly. "You're done Kareena, time for you to say goodbye to whom ever and go to your new home." said monotoned voice. Who was she going to say goodbye to though? She didn't remember anyone truly. She could possibly ask to get what she learned back, but the intelligence that had been added onto her hard drive told her to just give up and keep moving. Was that a survival mode or an input human trait? Giggling slightly to herself, for truly no apparent reason, Kareena slid off the table only to slip off her linen dress in front of everyone and started looking for her close. "4T-L96E...5O7! This is not appropriate in the least! Someone find Kareena's clothes." hollered the assistant, as young as he seemed, couldn't help but blush at her naked figure. Looking blankly over her shoulder a confused look came over her features. She didn't know what could possibly be the problem, she looked like any other young lady except for a few exceptions. "I would prefer Kareena." she said with another giggle before someone else came pacing towards her with clothes that were apparently her own.
Three...two...one...Just a slight note to self, well, possibly more than one note; Do not undress in front of humans, they find it offensive or something. Also, when putting on shoes do NOT pull the laces so tight it actually harms yourself. Seems as though basics have pretty much been wiped from my system, but that's fine, I'll learn them back quickly with my new room mates...Kareena ended her internal monologue quickly, only stare back out the window of the yellow cab which was ushering her to her destination. She was fully dressed now, complete with a pair of acid wash gray jeans, a tight fitting strapped camisole that was covered by an off the shoulders sweater, and a pair of Vans with now frayed laces. All in all she looked like a normal teenager, except that she looked far too perfect in what she was wearing. That was fine though, a little bit could keep her from the normal teenage population, and hell she was far from being a normal teenager anyway. Her hair was straight, like it had been since day one, and had a small gray bow-clip in it. Her lips were painted with a light peach frost which annoyed her to no end. Every time she closed her mouth, then opened it, her lips would stick together for a few milliseconds.
It had almost been over an hour until she reached the suburbs of New York City, the whole time having sat there in silence since the cab driver seemed to totally ignore any sort of conversation she tried to start up. Finally she caught hold of her most precious sign, it told that there were only fifteen more miles until she reached the private boarding school that would be the holding place for the experiment. Kareena nervously tapped her fingers against the interior of the car door. This was the first time she had felt nervous since the reboot. She had been excited to ride in the cab, happy to leave, slightly upset that she didn't exactly remember the two child-like androids that had clung to her before she left, but this was the first time she was nervous.
Only a mere fifteen minutes later she was standing alone on the curb before the boarding facility. Quickly though, she wasn't alone. There were at least five others attending to her in mere minutes of her standing there. The sudden commotion had her shut her eyes like a child. Already there was far too much commotion going on with the smallest groups of people, they were all asking her questions, chatting among themselves, or simply staring at her as if she was the oddest thing in the world. They were all in their younger teens, possibly the leaders of some sort of school board? She didn't know and at the moment she didn't care. They had only made it up the first flight of stairs in the beige rectangular building before someone who was quiet and older shooed the younger humans away, telling them to take her things to the large and now shared dorm room. The older gentlemen quickly said, "Sorry about that young lady, but it seems our youth is quite anxious about the androids at this point in time. I'm guessing you're Kareena, considering you're our only female model coming," he paused for a long moment before continuing on, "Where are my manners? My name is Keenan Michowych, chief designer for...well...your kind." he said flashing a smile. The young android couldn't help but raise a brow at that, letting a few laughs bubble from her internal drives. For the next part of the hour he explained what would be happening and why she was here. Kareena was here to be tested on if androids could properly function in the outside world without being watched but at the moment she was doubting she could do it herself, the simple five minutes with those loud teens outside had already had her closing off part of her and fueled the fire to shrink away into a corner or something. Having spaced out for a moment too long Keenan gently patted her shoulder before ushering her up another flight of stairs so they were on the second story, also apparently the housing wing. There were many other bustling about, non-smiling as they did so. Of course though, Kareena was smiling.
Keenan dropped her off at her lovely dorm, which had six beds in it. She could already tell that there was going to be too much commotion in the small space for anyone to stand. Claiming a light blue bed that was situated next to an electrical outlet Kareena looked around the room. It was probably nice to most teenagers, but for her the gray looked dingy compared to the brilliantly white room she had left over an hour ago. Gently lifting her bags, which had been thrown near another bed, Kareena began unpacking her items neatly. She couldn't help but stop the beat of her mechanical heart, she just wanted someone else to show up so didn't have to worry how much insanity could possibly be going on.
