So this weekend was a three day weekend for me, so I got an invite to spend time with the two youngest female teachers at the Jr. High. Both are 26 years old, so they are the single hyper ultra-girly Japanese types. (Everyone treats me like a kid since I'm one of the youngest JETs in the area, and appearently I'm not old yet since I'm below the Japanese Old Maid age of 25.) So "J" and I went to "M's" parent's house, which was HUGE and absolutely beautiful. J and M have been trying to get me to cheer up recently, which is really sweet of them. They say they can understand that I'm homesick, and they mentioned a couple other teachers who are worried about me.
Apparently a few of them were talking about how they think I don't want to teach and that it's getting the way of other things I want to be doing, like traveling and having new experiences. Bwahahahaha... so at least I know they are paying attention. Seriously, they were right on, and I told them so. And what's even funnier is that the teachers who were talking about this feel the same way. They have to work there, but they don't really want to. Something about that school seems to draw in teachers like this, I guess. But seriously, it's good to know they understand.
I went shopping with them and they were all over the place saying how cute everything was... because there isn't a ten second span of time where Japanese girls aren't calling something cute. I'm not really into clothes (...like the ones here would fit me anyway...) but they did convince me to buy a Gackt VHS for half price. And they have The Body Shop here, and I like that kinda stuff. I also ate a TON of junk food with them. It's all their fault!
They got on the topic of boys and how they want boyfriends. This is where I told them that I don't want/need a boyfriend and that boys only get in the way of actual important things... like life. But they seriously want boyfriends. Especially M, who is all about guys with good looks and some money. I think she likes one of the male teachers at the school, who happens to be the young, fit, popular PE teacher. (He beat me in a race... and now I have to kill him.) M thinks that she is at the most beautiful stage of her life and therefore should find a guy soon. J thinks that she is past the most beautiful time of her life. I think they're both crazy.
But anyway, they are both very sweet and I think we'll be good friends. We also discovered that while I can understand almost everything they say, I am utterly incapable of forming sentences. LAME!
