The recipe was very similar to that of the trianons, only without stacking them on top of each other to make a pattern. I “sanded” the butter and flour, but the butter was still too cold to be effectively “sanded”. I added the rest of the ingredients and was concerned that it wouldn’t come together properly since I had halved the recipe. I was supposed to knead in the macadamia nuts (since we had no hazelnuts) and that was really messy. The first knead, came out well, but after that it just became a huge mess.
I had to roll it out to 3 cm, which was really thick for a cookie. I cut it so that it would be 4 cm wide and then I cut them to 5 cm in thickness. I baked it at 381 F for about 12 minutes. At the end, I was somewhat terrified that the butter had bubbled out and I feared that they might have been fried (although the amount of butter that leaked was, comparatively, trivial). The nuts came out slightly burned, unlike the actual cookie itself. Several macadamia nuts fell out, giving some of the cookies unsightly holes.
The recipe was fairly easy, but I had to remember to sand the butter and flour more and chip the macadamia nuts more. Here’s a picture:
