Death and Dismay
Hey peoples... could you start leaving comments so I know who actually reads my jounal... thanks.
Falling Apart
“Damien! Get your butt back in this house!” Yelled a woman, franticly trying to get her son back into the safety of the house. When the boy didn’t respond, the woman ran out into the night and grabbed her son’s arm, dragging him to the door. The boy winced since his mother grabbed his arm so roughly. “You come when you are told. Do you understand Damien?” Her voice was shaky even though she wanted it to be stern and serious. It wasn’t safe for a young boy to be out in the night by himself, especially one of his age. There were too many wolves and… werewolves. If one of those werewolves got a hold of her son, she would never forgive herself.

“Mom, let go. I want to go play with the puppy again.” The boy whined, pulling back, trying to get away from his mother. He still didn’t understand that he couldn’t just walk out of the house in the middle of the night and roam around, without someone to protect him. She would have to do something different if she wanted to keep her son out of harm’s way.

“You are not allowed to go outside after dark; if you ever do this again you will be grounded until you move out of this house. Got that young man?” She snapped as she pushed her son threw the door, but before she could enter the house a sharp pain on her ankle halted her. Her ankle felt like something had bitten it. She looked down and let out a shriek of fear. A wolf had latched onto her leg and was pulling her back into the darkness of the night. She fell to the ground, hitting her face on the wooden door frame.

“Mom!” Damien yelled as he watched his mother get dragged off the pouch by her ankle.

“Ahhhhhh!” Damien shot up in the bed, sweat rolling down his face, chest, and back. The blankets around him stuck to him like they were glued to him and the room felt like it was 100 degrees. What was it about that memory that makes him scream every time he remembers it? Was it that his mom disappeared? Or was it that he had been alone ever since?

“Damien?” Damien glanced next to him. He had forgotten that Takami had come into his room and slipped into his bed. Wonderful, she just saw him at his worse. “Are you alright?” Her voice was soft, which meant he had woke her up when he screamed. That made it even better. First he wakes her up, and then he made her see the bad side of him. This is just great.

“Yeah, I’m sorry for waking you.” He smiled weakly and leaned down, kissing Takami on the forehead. He was still breathing heavily so his breath rolled over Takami, making her shiver. He knew she would bug him about it more when she woke up completely, but he had a bit before that happened, so he had time to could come up with a reason without having to tell her about his past. His mother had been taken by the wolves when he was seven and she would feel bad for him. Then she would do something idiotic, and then everything would end up worse than before. She would probably find out what he was if he told her about his past. That’s how it always was with Takami, but oh well.

“It’s ok, just try to go back to sleep.” Takami tugged on Damien’s shoulder, pulling him back down onto the bed. He went willingly because he was tired and he always felt better when he was with her. He wrapped an arm around Takami and pulled her close to him. His breath had calmed down, but it was still heavy enough to make Takami’s hair move every time he exhaled.

“You should try to go back to sleep too Damien.” Takami barely managed to say, before drifting back to sleep. Damien smiled and kissed Takami on the top of the head, before closing his eyes and going to sleep himself.
