My heart beats
Faster and faster
Until it feels as though
It might jump out from my chest

I twiddle with my hands
My mouth gets dry
I'm nervous to ask

I open my mouth
But words don't come out

We walk
Like always
Normally we talk
But today is silent

The bell rings
We're about to go our seperate ways
I blurt out
"Will you go to prom with me?"
He stops and looks
Says he'll think about it

Weeks go by
No answer just yet
I'm growing impatient
I need to know

I don't see him the rest of the day
So a text message will just have to do
I don't mean to rush
But I need to know
Are you going to prom with me?
Yes or no?

I receive a text back
I'm scared to look
But it says
"Sure, I'll go with you"

A smile spreds wide across my face
I'm the happiest girl alive
I talk to him after class
Just to double check
He's going for sure
And thats a fact

I can't wait 'til prom night
It's going to be a blast
Finally
My dream has come true
At last
