The door tingled as Hannah stepped in, late again. "I'm so sorry, you guys. I promise. I'll be on time tomorrow," she said as she stepped over to the counter. She ducked under counter, and began to pull off her coat. Jude's eyes followed her the whole way, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and cross my arms. It was disgusting.
Hannah came back and sat back down next to me, the three of us staying still. I glanced over at Hannah and noticed something weird. She was bright red, as if embarrassed. If there was one thing that Hannah never was, it was embarrassed. It was so odd. Her cheeks were red all over, and her eyes were down. Arms folded, curled practically into a ball.
For a while, Jude, Hannah, and I sat there, talking occasionally, but when Jude left to help the owner, I took up my real questions for Hannah.
"You okay?" I asked her, curiously.
Hannah looked over at me suddenly, surprised that I was asking her. "Yeah. I'm fine. Why?"
"Well, because. You're all red and acting...weird," I muttered back.
"Oh, it's nothing."
"That's what you said yesterday when something was bothering you. Will you just tell me?" I asked.
She sighed a bit. "It's nothing to tell here. I'll tell you later. When we get home." She made the same promise she had the night before, and then said nothing.
I groaned. "Fine. Whatever."
