Concrete Angel
She walks to school with the lunch that she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back

A small girl could be seen, walking towards the barrier between the platforms nine and ten, carrying a small bag that contained her lunch. If you stared at her, you couldn't tell she was unhappy. Quite the oppisite, in fact, she looked very happy.

Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
she hides the bruises with the linen and lace oh

She wore a thin blue dress, with the long sleeves going past her hands. The dress was faded, which made one think it was worn alot. Her face brightened when she saw one of her friends, and she lifted her arm and waved, revealing several dark bruises.

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask

A teacher saw this wave, but didn't say anything, even when she got a glance at the many bruises and cuts lining the girls arm. The girls face was happy, so nothing could be wrong, right?

Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born

But there was something wrong, something not even her friends knew. Her uncle beat her, and everytime she would go home, it would get worse. She wished her uncle would just kill her to get it over with. Better yet, she wished she hadn't been born at all.

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

The first half of the school year past, and before the girl knew it, it was time for her to go home. This she was dreading. She had recieved a letter from her uncle when she was in her rooms, telling her that if she didn't go home this break, he would do worse when summer came. She promised herself that she would tell her best friend one day.

Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights

It was three in the morning, a few nights before Christmas, and the girl was on the phone with her best friend, finally telling someone her secret. Her uncle came in, and hung up the phone, smacking her across the face. She ran for shelter, but he pulled her up from the floor. She let out a scream, but next door, the lights flicked off.

A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes it'll be too late

Her uncle kept beating her, over and over, telling her that if she had kept her mouth shut, this wouldn't be happening. This continued all night, and when the police came in the morning, they found her still body lying upstairs. She had joined her deceased parents.

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

A few miles away, a muggle born witch received a letter, telling her that her best friend was gone. She started crying, telling her parents that she should have done something. They comforted her, but it was no use.

A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face

A few days later, they had a funeral at Hogwarts. The girl was buried underneath the oak tree she used to sit beneath. On top of her grave, there was a stone angel, with an exact likeness of the girl.

A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot
