To tell you the truth, I thought I'd never EVER talk about politics, because it bores me to tears, but here I am talking about the P word! ZOMG! It's the first time I can actually vote and I get a choice between an old guy (no offense McCain) and an idealist. I feel so powerful.
Now, who am I going to vote for? Unless things drastically change, I'll most likely vote for McCain. Why? I hate the war, but I don't think that drawing out completely right away is the answer, which is what Obama wants to do. If we draw out completely, that will make Iraq WAY too unstable and things will crumble. Yeah, people are dying, but if you think about, even more people (just not Americans) would die if we withdrew. But it seems to me that more people care about Americans dying than ANY OTHER COUNTRY! WTF is up with that?! Can't we care even a little about other nations?! I know this doesn't go for everyone, but it's just the majority of what I've heard and seen. No offense to anyone, or... Well... Whatever. I don't care.
To tell you the truth, Obama scares me to death. Why, might you ask? Because he's too idealistic. What most people don't understand is that a lot of what the Presidential Candidates promise, they have no power over. Presidents can't make laws, cut taxes, blah blah blah. EVERYTHING HAS TO GO THROUGH CONGRESS FIRST!!!!!!!!!! So DUH! Anything a President promises may or may not happen. The thing is, is that Obama doesn't get that. So while I like a LOT of his ideas, it just isn't going to work because he can't change that kind of stuff without swaying Congress by a LONG shot. I think of Obama as the Clintons BEFORE they got into office and realized that the President doesn't have much control. All the President can do is pass or veto bills already passed through Congress. So, in turn... WHAT THE HELL DO WE HAVE A PRESIDENT FOR ANYWAY?! I mean, come on! All they're there for is looking good. They're a figure-head, nothing more.
Another thing that caught my interest was McCain's speech, and Obama's response. I found Obama's response to be him grasping at straws. He called the speech "out of touch" because McCain talked a lot about his biography. Now, I'm not so sure about you, but I would like to know who exactly I'm voting for when I vote for ANYONE into ANY office. So yeah, I think the biography makes a LOT of sense. And Obama was bitching about how McCain didn't talk about the middle class, well... NO ONE EVER DOES! The middle class is non-existent! And he was talking about how McCain didn't talk about how the middle class was hit hardest by job loss, and yet McCain talked about the SAME figures that Obama said when he was complaining, so I don't understand that. All in all... IF YOU'RE GOING TO b***h ABOUT SOMETHING, AT LEAST MAKE IT LOOK GOOD AND BE ACCURATE!
So yeah... That's my beef with Politics. It's too boring for me, and it makes my head hurt.
