Sonnet: The Nightmare. CH.4: The Terror of Fire
"damn them." Davis though to himself as he wandered the charred streets. "Can't believe they would go with someone they don't even know. oh well, if they want to die let them...." he continued. suddenly low humming starts to echo around him and the area starts to get hotter. " what the..." Davis says as he readies his shovel. small flames start to creep behind Davis as he slowly continues to walk the streets. the heat grows stronger as Davis starts to walk faster and faster. Soon burst of fire start to shoot out of the houses surrounding him as he realizes he is being followed by flames. the flames explode into pillars of fire as he completely turns around to see them.
"no...NOOO!" Davis screams as he tries to run and hid from the pursuing fire. Suddenly he finds himself in a dead end in an ally way. the pillar starts to move toward him but stops as a bright figure starts to slowly walk out of it. The pillar starts to vanish. with the pillar vanishing many of the burning people are revealed walking behind the one who came out of the pillar. It was similar to the rest but slightly bigger and had larger burst of flames coming out of it. "L-LEAVE ME ALONE!" Davis cried in vain right before the large thing grabbed him by the neck. "aauuggh...gah" Davis tries to free himself from the burning hand as he gasp for breath. soon, his body set on fire from the thing, goes limp as he dies burning and suffocating.
~The search (cont') Part two, Side one~
"so you two knew each other?" Marcus asked Kain and Niras. "i guess you can say we met." Niras said with a smirk. "you still bitter about what happened?" Kain said to Niras with an annoyed look on his face. "Hell yeah, why'd the captain leave you in charge of the group when he was away!?" Niras said as she stomped towards Kain. "nows not the time for this sort of thing..." Kyo said as he and Megami stopped Niras from trying to punch Kain. "we need to find others." Megami add in.
"I'll go with you. it'll be easier it'll be to defend against those things if theres more of us." Marcus said as he prepared his equipment. "I guess i'll go to, can't let Marcus or Kain do something stupid." Niras added as she handed Marcus her bag, making him to get her stuff ready too. "geez, looks like your in for a rough time..." Ric whispered to Kain. "if i'm lucky, she'll turn into a mute." Kain replied to Ric. "ok, lets move out and continue searching!" Kyo said as he started to walk down the street.
As Kyo and the group finish looking around the surface they try to gather the courage to descend into the lower levels. "it looks like we need to start searching the lower levels" Kyo announced to the group. "well, i'm sure we'll run into Azrei if we do." Kain said hopefully. "Azrei? a friend of yours?" Marcus asked. "yeah, he went down in search of some girl. he thinks she might have something to do with those things." Kain explained to Marcus. "what a crazy b*****d..." Niras though out load. "yeah, pretty much." Ric said in agreement. "the elevator is ready..." Megami said as the doors creaked open.
the group enters the elevator and begins to descend into level one. "this kinda reminds me of when Az first heard the girls voice." Ric reminisced. "really?" asked Kyo. "yeah, wasn't as crowded though." Ric replied as he struggled for room. "stop elbowing me, p***k!" Niras yelled at Ric right before punching him in the face. "oww, ********!" Ric said in agony as he covered his face in pain. "Niras, that was to far!" Marcus scoled her as he tried to look in her direction. out of nowhere humming begins to echo all around.
~the search(cont'): Part Two Side Two~
"can we rest? we've been going on none stop." Verial asked Azrei who was still searching around with bursting energy. "my feet hurt..." Lilia complained. "you tired too?" Azrei ask Saika. "y-yeah." Saika replied. "hmm, i guess we can take an hour of rest. the group decided to rest at a park like area. "so, will your friends be coming down here for people or are they just gathering people on the top level?" Verial asked Azrei. "they said they're going all the way to the third level, or something, and then leave the city." he replied. "umm, what are you going to say to the girl once we find her?" Lilia questioned as the group gathered around interested in the conversation.
suddenly humming begins to echo around the group. "w-what's that sound coming from? Verial asked as he started to search for the source of the sound. all of a sudden a girls voice begins to speak. "The one consumed by sorrow approaches, he brings death and destruction where ever he goes. what can cool the burning sorrow of the Flame Mourner?" the voice speaks. "somethings coming..." Azrei says as he readies for a fight. small burst of fire start to circle the park and the things seem to flood in through every corner. in the middle of the park a huge pillar of fire forms for a moment and disappears as the Flame Mourner walks out of it moaning.
"oh, s**t..." Azrei says as the group fails to find an escape route. "Azrei, your the leader of an extinguishing squad right?" Verial asked Azrei in a concerned voice. "yeah." Azrei replied. "well, it seems like the only way out is though him. plus your the only one with an extinguisher..." Verial said as he pointed to the Flame Mourner. "i know, i know what i have to do. you take on the small ones, i'll take on big and ugly." he replied as he started to walk steadily towards the Flame Mourner. "you girls sure you can take on those things." Verial asked for reassurance. "we can handle them." Lilia said determined as she pulled out her shovel. "i'll do my best." Saika added as she prepared to fight for her life.
