Love Letter - Ch. 4
Law Boy w/ a surprise POV

What to do... what to do... Hand puppets soon became boring and it was still dark out. Why I was pretending to play hand puppets had escaped my mind long ago, and I only hoped that there was no camera in the room... I felt a familiar heat race across my face as I thought of the field day the tabloids would have... “Rock Star’s Boyfriend in Need of a Straight Jacket”, I shuddered at the thought. Why was I being such a pessimist? Klavier had fallen asleep again and there was literally NOTHING to amus- is that a swivel chair? I grabbed my iPod and sat in the chair, spinning around enough to make the world fuzzy when I sat still. Woah... five Klaviers... Weird. Anyway, I continued to do this until dawn while listening to a few songs I had. Oddly, they were all somehow related to love... By the time I stopped, my mind was completely fried and couldn’t even see my hand was when I put it in front of my face until after, like, a whole minute.

Laughter filled the room. “Good morning, meine Tomate,” (my tomato) it took me another good twenty seconds to comprehend what he said and who he was, and another fifty to think about my answer. By the time I recognized who he was; worry was etched on his face. Hmmm... I could get use to this. It was about time that someone paid attention to me.

“Spinning...” was the most I could manage in my state.

“What song are you listening to?” It took me a whole five minutes to understand what he said. By the time I answered, Klavier looked... very concerned. About my mental condition, of course.

“Not much,” I’m not quite sure I answered his question. Before he could ask anything else I said, “Waking up late at night makes me lethargic," I yawned. He ruffled my already messy hair, a large grin on his slipped on to his face as he tugged gently at one of the headphones, the earpiece sliding into his hand with ease, and placed it into his own ear.

“...interesting.” I stared at him, not processing the word. I’d given up awhile ago. I guess he could tell from the look on my face because he remained silent. And then he started to laugh. Really, realyreallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreallyrealyreallyreallyreallyreally,

REALLY loudly. (I hope I have made my point...) I looked out of the window and saw the sun painting the sky, the blank canvas coming to life with each passing second. It took a little concentration, but I actually began to comprehend and enjoy the colours that splashed out before me. Klavier noticed the direction of my gaze and looked out the window too, but it was tranquil. Eventually, the edges of my vision began to blur, I could almost count the lashes on my eyes... Blinking furiously, I struggled to remain conscious.

“Tired?” Klavier bent down so that his face was level with mine. I still wasn’t comprehending what he was saying, and it was starting to annoy me.

I remained silent and opted to just nodding my head; Klavier started laughing again.

“Gute Nacht, meine Tomate.” (Good Night, my Tomato.) He spoke as if he were singing a lullaby, and it sounded all that much more pleasing to my ears. I must have said what was on my mind because he let out a soft chuckle. Huh... Klavier’s eyes sparkle when he’s laughing... After a few moments, the sight of a happy Klavier comforted my eyes, I rested my head; then was greeted by the familiar embrace of sleep.

Blondie’s POV

I brushed I few strands of hair out of his sleeping face, a faint blush still adorning his face. I could get used to this... But was he ready? Ready for such a relationship? Time will tell when the flower will blossom for the world, when the first lucky by passer can enjoy it to its fullest... Hmmm... That’s a bit deep for a rock star. Perhaps I could make that into a song? I let my lips leaf over his nose; it was still warm from the blush that recently had adorned his gorgeous face. A million things were racing through my mind, but I quickly tuned them out, and settled down in my massage chair, the soft leather a sad replacement compared to cuddling with Apollo... I sighed. Did he really want this? No need to depress myself with such thoughts. I glanced at the clock. Six forty-five. Hoping off of my chair, and went over to my computer and flipped on the monitor. Blaring on the screen was an update from the D.A.

“Heilig...!” (Holy...!)

Defense Attorney Killed, Defendant Missing.

The defense, Futatsu Yura, on the case D2L1-9-0 was found dead in People Park.

The cause was a bullet shot from point blank to the head and several knife stabs...

On closer inspection of the victim’s body, it was discovered that poison lingered on the bullets

and knife, both weapons still missing. The poison acted within minutes so

it is unknown as to why the killer felt the need to go to such extremes.

The reason for his death is unknown, but we believe that the defendant, Hunapo Epiha,

is closely related to this crime. He is, in a certain light, the only one who would want the victim

dead due to the fact that Mr. Yura was never planning on giving Mr. Epiha a fair trial by rigging his defense.

We think this may be connected to the death of Mrs. Yura, whose killer was closely identified as a male

similar to Mr. Epiha. Mrs. Yura’s murder was never caught nor was there any evidence left of the happenings of a murder besides her body.

The gun used to kill the defense was similar to the one to kill Mrs. Yura, a 47 caliber gun - hefty but effective.

As you may already now, Kristoph Gavin went missing a month before these happenings.

There is still no evidence in his cell that explains how he escaped.

We will keep you tuned if anything else happens and hope you have luck with the case you are currently working on.

No information is to be leaked out about your case -- as you know -- it is imperative that the contents of your

work on that case remains in your head alone.

Someone tugged on my sleeve.

“When did you wake up Tomate?”

“A while ago, why?” He gave me a look of confusion. I was silent. Could Kristoph have a hand in this? Why now? What would his purpose be? “Hey, Klavier? Is there a possibility that... Hunapo is Kristoph?”

?? POV

I gazed at my girlfriend approvingly. A week ago, she had assisted me to escape the clutches of law. She had always been taller than myself with her heels on, and after no seeing her for so long...there was something about her that seemed off. Maybe it was just the heels.

“So...how’d you pull it off?” She looked at me strangely. “You know... killing that damn attorney so I could escape?” Leontina de Lorme fiddled with her glasses. If it weren’t for her looks, she never would have been able to pull off the killing and plan my escape. I already knew how she pulled it of; I just wanted to know how she slipped him ‘the drink of death’.

“I didn’t. I had someone do it for me,” Well, that was to the point.

“Good thinking, Leontina,” I meant it. She could’ve lost everything if she had been caught. Her long black hair was picked up by the wind, and danced, held by its cool embrace. Her green eyes sparkled when the light hit it the right way, but were masked by a pair of glasses. Her full, red lips were pulled into a small smile, dimples appearing in her pink hued cheeks. She had a baby-doll face that was framed perfectly by bangs, and a slender, lithe body. With her heels on, we were about the same height.

I fingered a stray lock of my golden hair, which had recently been cut. Sadly, I couldn’t drape it over my shoulder anymore, but it accented my teal eyes impeccably. “You know what annoys me?” I didn’t wait for a reply. “That I look so much like that flipping prosecutor of the case.” She looked at me intently.

After several minutes, she spoke with so much certainty that it seemed surreal. She had never seen him before, after all... “You look nothing like that hot-headed fool.”

Polly’s POV

I know it’s impolite to read someone’s mail, it’s just that... I give up. I feel so stupid and...small because of what I did. Why did I have to open my mouth?

It’s been a week since then and I still feel ridiculously guilty for suggestion that Mr. Gavin was Mr. Epiha. It was an idiotic hunch that I should have silenced.

...I’m over thinking this.

I dragged my feet to the bathroom, quickly undressed, stepped into the shower, and blasted myself with cold water. Normally, I hate cold water. I can’t stand how it seems to pelt you body like hail and hen rolls off like a sheet of ice encasing you body. Maybe it’s just me; I have been told multiple times that I have an overactive imagination, but either way, taking cold showers was just not something I did.

After a while I realized that I was out of body wash. Hmm... Looks like I’m going to take a little trip to Target... Yippee. Not.

After a thirty-minute soak I got out of the shower, slipped on a warm, welcomed towel, and opened my medicine cabinet, my hand reaching towards the area on the third shelf my hair gel occupies. My hand met air. No hair gel...

Okay, stay calm. I’m sure I’m just overreacting. I closed my eyes while rubbing my temples. I can do this. I’ll just...wear more red than usual when I go out.

I feel so unprotected without my gelled hair! Oh, dear God, I will go to church if you save me the humiliation of meeting someone I know...and I’ll admit that you actually exist.

With the dilemma of no gel to create my favorite hairstyle, I dug into my closet, scrounging up a red Tee and jeans with a dark cherry red belt. The jeans, amazingly so, had been manufactured with red paint splatters and frayed ends that had a few red silk strands woven into the fabric. Why had I ever put these jeans away?! I must have not liked red in a past life, and it’s trying to make me get rid of all my red clothes, piece by piece. Yeah, like that’s possible.

I brushed my hair, or at least tried to, and just settled with my messy mop of short brown hair. I felt more than a little self-conscious when I walked out of the apartment complex.

I glanced at my bike. Sorry; but not today. I began to jog along the sidewalk, skillfully sidestepping passing by pedestrians.

It was around noon by the time I had finally bought all the bare necessities that I had originally set out for when I had a sudden craving for chocolate. Rich, dark chocolate... So I stopped by the nearest shop that supplied my sudden craving, namely, Godiva. They always had the best chocolates...

By now, I had gone a whole hour without getting spotted by someone I knew so I was feeling pretty confident. I walked in, grabbed a single bar of dark chocolate with peppermint filling when a voice stopped me.

“Herr Forehead, might I ask what you are doing here?”

I spun around, startled out of my mind. I could almost see my face getting redder by the second. I tried to stutter a simple hello but couldn’t even manage that. His right eyebrow was raised as he looked at my hair skeptically.

“No gel, meine tomate?”

I smiled ruefully. “So you noticed? I was kinda hoping you wouldn’t.” Someone...help me... I twiddled with a stray lock, twisting it and tugged at it slightly. It helped to relieve some of the stress I was feeling at the moment, but not all of it.

He sported a large grin on his face. I could practically see his shining eyes underneath his shades. “You look good with your hair down.” Uhh...wow. That...was a first.

“Um...thanks, I guess...” He nodded and grabbed a bar of white chocolate with almonds in it. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

“You like dark chocolate, ja?” I nodded mutely. I had learnt long ago that words would betray me. Klavier then flipped the bar out of my hand and said something along the lines of, ‘My treat’.

I was searching my mind for something to talk about. “So, uh... How’s the case...?” The familiar constricting pain shot through my let wrist and I glanced up at Klavier. He was visibly tensing. After paying for the bars and turned around while motioning or me to follow him and tossed the chocolate at myself. I tried to catch it as gracefully as Klavier had flipped it out of my grasp, but to no avail.

Once outside, he let out a sigh; then, a string of sighs. “It is not going well, Herr Forehead.” I glanced up at his sun kissed face, but could find no nervous twitch.

“Hey,” he looked at my face with surprise; it was as if he knew what I was going to “Yes... she has been dead for a month.”

“Do you know any other possible accomplices?”

More fiddling with the hair. “No.” By now, I knew he was lying; but I had no idea why. What would he need to hide?

“Is there something you want to tell me?” The fiddling with his hair stopped, and he gazed at me intently.

“Everytime we talk... it always seems like you can see into my mind; my soul.” Well that was an evasive answer. Looks like he’s not ready to tell me yet.

“That was rather poetic, don’t you think?”

Klavier let out a dry chuckle. “Why is it that I find myself unable to keep the simplest of thoughts from your grasp?”

“Uhhhh...” I put my pointer finger to my lower lip, “maybe it’s cuz I’m irresistible?” OH MY GOD. I can’t believe I just said that. Ugh... I can be so irrational...

He was grinning while laughing, I feat I would never be able to pull off. “That you are, meine Tomate.”

“Don’t let your fans hear you say that.” I examined Klavier closely, even when laughing, here was something off about him. Perhaps it’s just my imagination. But, if so, why did it feel like that mysterious girlfriend was going to stay, even after death? Could she come back from beyond the grave? ...Or is she someone entirely different?

What if... no... he can’t be related to this. “Was Mr. Epiha’s girlfriend seen recently?”

He pointed his head towards the sun. It was evident that he was going over something in his head. After a few breathless moments, he spoke.

“Yes... I saw her; right before the murder.”

“Shoot.” He let out a desperate chuckle, he knew what I was thinking... and he hadn’t ruled that possibility out either. This case has become increasingly annoying... because the only explanation for the events... is an almost improbable one.
