His days started off cold. Not like morning cold, oh no, more like a night in the arctic, type of cold. His body hadn't adjusted to his new home, far from the city, far from modern civilization, in the countryside where there was little disturbance to bother the echos that rang through Duncan's head. He shifted up from his bed and blinked a few blinks and stood up. Ever since he was a kid, he wasn't much of stretch-in-the-morning kind of person. Once, he did that, and his couldn't move afterward. Poor kid, he had to be taken to the hospital for a few days. Well, that's all in the past and he didn't need to be reminded of it. That's why he got a Masters in Psychology, right? To get away from everything he came to know and love. Duncan moved around his empty two-story house, which was part of a bigger estate which he owned, and found his way to the bathroom. Duncan seemed to only be in his boxers, his plain black, no designs whatsoever boxers. He didn't even wear a top when he slept. All natural, he was. Or, if that's what you called sleeping half-naked then be my guest. Then maybe, that's the reason he's cold. While he had been washing his face, brushing his teeth, and fixing his natural tussled blonde hair, his cell phone in the other room started to ring. The phone was on silent, a habit he did before he went to sleep. Besides, whoever was calling him knew better, and should have called his house phone.

He walked back to his room just as his phone stopped ringing. The faint light on his bed attracted his attention as he reached over for it and picked it up slowly. Boss, don't be late! - Mai. Duncan blinked again and tossed his phone onto the bed. He slipped into a long sleeved, black turtle neck and some black jeans. Nothing that a usual doctor would wear. He picked up his phone and walked into the kitchen where he picked up some cold toast (left over from yesterday morning in which he was in a hurry) and rhythmically walked out of his house. Locking the door and the gate, he went to his Rolls Royce (something he inherited from his grandfather) and drove to work.

On his way, he jacked in his Ipod and shuffled his songs. He picked up his phone and texted with the non-driving hand. Mai, I'm getting out of my house now. I'll be there in about 10 minutes. He texted and settled the phone down, concentrating on his driving. He kept chewing on the toast until it was gone (until the crust). His hands instinctively brushed off the crumbs and in almost no time, found himself in front of his clinic for the mentally challenged. No, not like retarded, more like psychotic. Duncan wouldn't dare call it a rehab or asylum. Such names sounded vulgar to his ears. He also didn't want to make his patients frantic by the sounds of those words. Heavens no.

A beautiful gate blocked the clinic from the outside world. Unknown to most of the patients, and workers, the gate had a sensor, in which somebody tried to escape without proper permission, would immediately get the police on the scene. Of course, since no one really knew about it, and nobody has ever escaped, an incident like that has yet to occur. Something that Duncan would never worry about since he took very good and loving care of his patients. Driving up to the parking lot, he turned off his Ipod and exited. Letting out one big sigh, he put on a smile, a smile that hid every trace of his inner self, a side that his patients, his employees, and even his own family did not know about.

"Mai, I'm--"" "Boss! Oh thank HEAVENS you've arrived!" Interrupted his employee with a look of strained anger written all over her face. Without even saying another word, Mai dragged Duncan to a room where one of his most beloved patients was. "Oh dear...Lulu, are you alright dear? What seems to be the problem?" Said the doctor in his ever charming voice and his most brightest smile.

Lulu was a girl with a lovely aura around her, bubble gum pink hair, and the most cutest pair of emerald eyes ever to be seen upon. That was, when she was calm. She has Merinthophobia, the fear of being tied up or bounded by something. Her mother tied her up as a child in the closet for weeks or even months on end. When the police finally found out the she had been abused and neglected, it was too late. She had lost every part of her sanity. To top it off, she was afraid of being alone, Monophobia which meant she needed, craved being with somebody, anybody, and especially Duncan. The girl let her guard down and dropped the plastic chair she was violently waving at the other nurses and doctors. Lulu ran into Duncan's arms, rubbing her head into his chest. "Duncan-sensei~! I'm so happy you're here! You're later than usual! What takes you long to get here, silly?~" She teases happily at him. He smiled, raising his hand while she's distracted to obtain the injection. Nurses scramble to their feet, preparing the serum for Lulu. "Duncan-sensei, they were soooo mean to me! T-those terrible people tried to tie me down! I took the chair and swung it at them, yelling 'Go away, Go away' and they did! That's when you showed up sensei, to make it all better." Lulu cooed, happy to see her knight-in-shining armor. Duncan nodded every now and then while she talked, moving his free hand for the injection while the other one rubbed at her back. "Hmmm...is that so? Well, you don't have to worry anymore, okay? It's all over." "Hunh? What do you mean it's all over?" "Hm? Did I say that? Well, you can go back and play in the courtyard Lulu dear." Duncan chuckled, putting the injection in the bin of used needles and went off the check on his other subject. She didn't even notice the shot this time. He must be getting better. He smiled to himself and strolled down the hall, enjoying his morning much more than he usually did.
