-Four makeshift pouches on his belt.

-SURVIVE! (An outdated nuclear survival book; light reading)

Appearance: Richard stands tall at 6"2. He's 207 lbs, with an athletic build. He has messy black hair, tired brown eyes, and a generally unshaven appearance. Richard has several cuts on his face as well as a stubble due to his shaky hands when it comes to shaving. His knees are worn and red from his time spent falling on them and his ankles have a white grit to them from running. His nails are constantly short courtesy of his biting them when he has nothing to do. His palms have skin peeling off most of the time and his knuckles have calloused. He stands and moves with a purpose, and doesn't tend to slouch or walk casually unless tired. He has a long faint scar along his right arm, something he got from running it across broken piping while trying to flee pursuers. It trails from the middle of the back of his hand, along his forearm, twists around and over his elbow, and ends at the back center of his upper arm. He also has a scar across the stomach, going from just above his belly button, across to his edge of his chest, which he received from just barely jumping away from a Hunter, back in the day.

As for his attire, Mr. Holden wears an old S.T.A.R.S. jacket (Non-Cannon), he accosted from the body of a fallen ally, a black tank tap, dark blue jeans, and some comfortable dark green running shoes. His jacket's patches are tearing off, his right sleeve is gone and it's got dirt baked onto the front. The tank top is relatively new, one he picked up corpse that didn't seem to need it. His jeans have been with him for a while and have started to tear at the knees, but otherwise provide a comfortable fit that doesn't fall off when running. His shoes were stolen from some pricey store Richard can't be bothered to recall. They were the most comfortable pair in the store and didn't fly off when he walked around. Along with his regular attire, he has four pouches he made and gathered that he strapped to his belt to hold supplies. He keeps his handgun in the holster located within the jacket pocket, his wrench is tucked in his belt, and he keeps the rest of his supplies in the pouches. He holds his shotgun at all times, and when he needs to use something else, he'll put it down, though he's been thinking of a way to carrying it more easily.

Personality:Richard has all the admirable traits of a snake coiled up on the ground and prone to lunge. He's sarcastic, jealous, sly, and a little mean. He thinks highly of himself and doesn't give other people respect until they earn it. This may look like he has an alpha male mentality, but really he just doesn't like being put under the command of idiots. This has given him an aversion to normal jobs, which coupled with his dislike of paying taxes, led to his chosen career.

He does have some positive traits though. He's very smart, being able to get through most problems in life with minimal hassle. His high standards make the friends he does, that he'll keep for life. Plus, despite his attitude, he cares about people, and doesn't really like to see them hurt. In short, he's a friend in disguise. Richard may look self-serving or arrogant, but he'll still come out trying to do what's best for everyone.

History: Richard Holden grew up in a relatively unknown city in California. Being a bright kid, he was constantly getting good grades. He kept himself fit and everything seemed to be going great. Problem was that he had some family issues that seemed to get worse and worse. As he neared adulthood things got so strained that he just couldn't take it. He left his family after some very harsh words and didn't plan on coming back. The only person he didn't blow up over was his brother, a doctor, who he kept in touch with.

After he left his home, Richard started traveling about, getting around the country by getting a hold of other people's bus tickets and taking some money for food. Eventually he made his way to Raccoon City, where he found plenty of stupid people to pickpocket and plenty of incapable cops too busy delivering art to notice. Here was where Richard made his home, got an apartment and avoided taxes for the longest time.

Richard was in Raccoon City when the outbreak occurred. While he was wandering around the street, he was attacked by a zombie and killed it in the fight that ensued. The police arrived and took him into custody, but on the way to the police station, the vehicle was attacked and went off the road. The car crashed into a building, killing the police officers. Richard survived though, and the escaped the broken police car. It wasn't safe outside!

Of course being handcuffed made things more difficult. He needed to get them off and the only way that was going to happen was if he found a cop. Thus, Richard headed towards the RPD since they were near by before the officers that arrested him, were maimed. As Richard made his way to the RPD, he was confronted by one of those inside-out monsters with the exposed brain.

Barely escaping that close encounter, he had ran into a woman who appeared to be a cop.He questioned why she wasn't doing her job and protecting the innocent. Unfortunately according to her, she had lost her keys and had no intentions of helping anyone but herself. Though she appeared to have made up her mind, she ended up sticking by Richard's side, coming to his aid as much as she could.

The two had developed a close bond with one another and eventually made a couple of allies. A S.T.A.R.S. opperative named, Jake Graves and a Civilian who was apparently a chef, going by the name, Mark Corbin.

Later Richard had finally gotten out of the handcuffs and took it upon himself to try and protect Anna more than he could, cuffed. He was somewhat successful, but when he went off to investigate City Hall, Jake was bitten by the ankle and infected. Anna was forced to fight off the culprit which was an infected dog. In return she was injured gravely by it's claws.

Upon Richard's return, the S.T.A.R.S. officer had already fully turned into one of them...Richard was then attacked by the newly infected, but managed to keep his gnarled teeth at bay as Anna shot him through the temple. When he found out about Anna's wounds, he took the reigns of the group and guided them to the tram station through a carefully thought out plan he formed.

Inevitably he and the remaining survivors followed through with the plan and in the process found a young boy who's parents were eaten. Unfortunately the tram wasn't ready to run, leaving Mark on a wild goose chase through the other carts to find some plugs and a battery. During this time, Anna was getting worse from her wounds, Richard ultimately decided to set off and search for something to stop the bleeding. Immensely worried about her, he ran through the Tram station until he spotted a greenherb.

Once he made it back to the tram, one of those escaped experiments were attacking, sniffing out the blood that seeped out of Anna's stomach. Richard immediately set off a few rounds at it, hoping to lure it away from the woman. After a heated fight, the tram's bell went off and the survivors were off.

During their escape the Civilian was killed by the nearly dead experiment as they made it out of the city. That attack lead to the tram crashing, separating Richard from Anna and James.

After his escape of Raccoon City, Richard set off to get away from the city. He spent his years as far from it as he could while remaining in the states until he eventually decided that he shouldn't be afraid of something that happened long ago. He went and visited recently, just around the time the s**t hit the fan. He's pretty peeved about this whole mess, but he's getting by alright.

Introduction: The ripped and torn curtains of the apartment swayed a little as a cold breeze blew by the apartment building. Moans, cries, and other abnormal sounds echoed throughout the city and made their way faintly into the room. The door was boarded with more wood than a Home Depot had room for, and the state of disarray the items inside made it almost unrecognizable as sleeping quarters.

Richard was sitting with his back in a corner, his shotgun laying in his lap while he rested. He had been thumbing through a bible he found in the room, hoping to find something to ease his spirits. After a short time, he closed the book and lifted himself (and his shotgun) up.

"Well that was about as useful as that damned survival book," he groaned as he walked over to the broken window. "All those pages of Hell and how to avoid it, but not a single one on how to get out of it."

He stuck his head out, looking up and around on the buildings surrounding him. No creepy crawlies nor any skinless freaks. Richard walked out onto the fire escape and looked down at the zombies shuffling back alleys of the forgotten and rotten city.

Eternal damnation or not, he wasn't going to let this outbreak stop him. Never did before. As he stepped down the stairs of the fire escape, he deemed his next destination the docks. Figured there had to be some frozen fish there that was free of contamination.
