It is tangible.

I think noise is the closest guess so far.

Music wasn't right. You guys are thinking too literally. The thing isn't made up of noise itself and isn't there to make noise. It's just noisy when you use it.

It's not obscure. There are a number of words for it but the same ones tend to get used everywhere, at least among English speaking countries. There are regional variations but if you said the answer in the form in which Sasha told it to me, everyone would know what you meant.
