Most of the journals will log the big updates and feelings of the times. I plan to look back on these in the future. Some large change affecting our lives now usually often turns into something we rarely think about.
Reminiscing Part 2
This is part two of my entry. I wrote over six hundred words about this one picture. It now has it’s own entry to keep things less cluttered.

I haven’t seen this image in years and didn’t know I had an inventory screen shot as old as this one:

The fun part is over. :] There’s the screen shot. The rest of this entry will be me rambling on about memories…before I forget them.
Er, just skip over the wall of text and have fun looking at avatars at the bottom of this entry.

~~~~~~~~
Judging from the items, this was my inventory back in October 05. This shows just how poor I was. Some of those items are worth a lot today, but weren’t really worth that much back then. There were people who were very rich and had large inventories. I didn’t. I spent my days making ‘dream avatars’ on gavsim and GAC.
Back then, the only free items we got were during events. The events were few and far between. The summer months were rather slow, but I couldn’t wait for event season. We didn’t have aquariums. We didn’t have the Daily Chance. We didn’t have the Quest System and the free sponsor items that come with it. The only starter items we had were the peasant items. And I hear that I was lucky that I got a peasant dress when I started out since there was a time when people got nothing to wear. XD
Nowadays, it doesn’t take too long to get an inventory full of items. I’m not taking quality into account, just quantity. I had so few items because I didn’t have the gold to spare. I really love the features like the aquarium and the DC. I still get excited when they give me a new item to wear.
My internet connection tied up the phone line. Because of that, I was not able to spend much time on Gaia. Late 04 through mid 05, I spent each month saving up to buy one sealed. It took me all month to earn the 3.5 - 4k. I would cave and buy a couple other items here and there, but not many… as you can see.
Soon, sealed letters started costing 4.5k, then 5k, then 5.5k…. That was outrageous! I could no longer make enough gold before the sealeds opened around the 25th of the month. I couldn’t afford a whip when they came out. I told myself that was okay and moved on. A very nice person later gave me a whip of fire for just hanging out and chatting on her thread. That made me so happy. :} And she didn’t even know how I felt about the item. XD; She was just one of those rare nice people you come across.
I first donated to the site in September 2005. I figured out that it took me less time to earn the money to buy the letter than it took me to earn the gold to buy the letter. I quested for a pair of demon horns from around October 2005 to December 2005. The sealed letters in the pic were bought and sold for the quest. That was one of the few times that I’ve bought a sealed to sell it. That was a huge quest for me. I sold any item I could part with. (Some store items and items from random event boxes.)
The order of items also tells a story. My sdrawkcab account was made in August 2005. She then slowly took over as main account. My old main account was an angelic fox demon RPer. XD The sdrawkcab account took a big turn away from that direction as I hung out in poll whore guilds and actually bought items. Yes, I bought items. Store items. By that time, I was donating to the site for DIs. I finally had the spare cash to buy all the cheap store items I’d been drooling over for a long time.
Sdrawkcab’s full take over is noted in the full take over is noted in the fourth line when she got the sacred angelic and fox items. Before that, the main account only gave her spare event items to wear.
Starting over on a new account was truly a new experience. I was ignored because I did not wear DIs. I was not ignored when I wore DIs. This was a main factor in why sdrawkcab got the items.
This inventory shot shows most of the items I owned. The only items not shown here would be what were on the other two accounts. The main account most likely wore a bompin’ headgear (blue or black), olive cargo pants, pink summer top and castaway shoes. The other account wore her fairy cloth outfit.
Actually, by that time, I’m not too sure of what the other account wore. Her outfit consisted mostly of spirited items and those items can be seen in this screen shot.
I take pride in saying that I still own all of the items that are in that screen shot. I mean those exact items, not just copies of them. I have my originals. <3 I don’t know why I’d take pride in something like that, but I sort of got attached to those pixels.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a journal entry for my outfits that I like. I might as well put up a few that I don’t like. Most of these are from the era of this inventory shot. I didn’t save many avatars back then and I also lost any images I had that were not saved to photo bucket.
I was trying… but didn’t have much to work with. Plus, the standards for matching were much lower back then. There weren’t as many layers to work with. Also, better items have been released over the years than what we had to work with at that time. Don’t get me wrong, I still love lots of those items… there are just other items out now that are much better for the job.
Annnnnd there were people who made fantastic, wonderful avatars. I envied them.

Meant to be random:

“Dream Avatars” This account was supposed to be given one outfit to wear. The problem was that I could not decide on an outfit. I never decided on a dream avatar, nor did I quest any. I still can't make any of these outfits. And I still haven't found an outfit that I can stand to keep for a long period of time.

User ImageThe other day I mentioned that I was proud of an avatar that I put together that "matched" the hammi rather well. I made it for a contest back in 05. Some girl was offering a prize to whomever could make the best hammi avatar. She wanted an outfit to wear her hammi with. …. She closed the contest without declaring a winner. Lo and behold, I saw her wearing my gavsim around for months and months after that. :B

User Image Satch. Her avatar was accidentally resaved sometime before H2k5. Fairy cloths could be worn over pants until the layering was changed. In order to keep this outfit, I did not resave my avatar for a long time. After I accidentally saved over her avatar, I was able to part with the fairy cloth. The fairy cloth was the first item I ever quested for. It was hard to part with, but I sold it and put the gold towards my quest for horns.

User Image Mina before ceding to sdrawkcab’s take over. Note how angelic bracelets used to only appear on one wrist at a time, not both. …They also took up a handheld item slot.

Eh, it's all good. I still make about the same amount of gold. XD The only thing that's changed is that the aquarium overseer gives me good presents sometimes. <3
I'm no good at playing the market. All I know how to do is buy and save. XD;

Yeah, items were "cheap" back then, but people also had much less gold. Sooo the items probably still cost about the same. . -.
I found it outrageous that the cherry blossom MC was released at 50k this month and is still selling for 40k. o ----o; Now that's expensive.

Tektek didn't exist at that time.
The old sites used to be gavsim and Gaia Avatar Creator. The GAC has been down for a long time. Gavsim.net is still up and running. It was the first site for Gaia dream avatars. It's simple, but so was the Gaia layering system. XD;
