My Journey Of Time
my adventure as it unfolds
Lying Low

I definitely hate being a half demon. Since I only have half the power of a regular demon, it affects my body more. Like if you haven't noticed already, I've been knocked unconscious a lot and pretty easily. Kick to the back of the head, changing into my full form, spikes through my chest......any full demon could've dealt with that with a smile on their face and not even feel woozy. But until I grow stronger, I'm stuck with the dreams, the blackouts, and the pain.

When I awoke, the pain that had been forgotten with my unconsciousness came roaring back. I attempted to yell out in agony, but mere moans and grunts were all that escaped my mouth, spattering up blood as well. I could feel it drip out of the left side of my mouth, I was too weak to wipe it away. Moonlight shone through a window next to a cot that I lay on. Delila was sitting in a chair next to me, asleep. I wonder how long she has sitting there waiting for me to wake up. I could make out small details of the room. A small kitchen consisting of a cooler and a toaster oven sitting on top of the counters with a stool next to it. Sad excuse for where someone eats. An open door showed a bathroom which was only big enough to fit the toilet. The kitchen tile connected to the carpet of the living room which contained a torn up recycled couch and a tv so out of date it had the antennas on top with the foil wrapped around the ends. A shadowy figure stood in the corner, gray eyes staring into my yellow ones.

"Your friend must be very loyal to you. She hasn't moved from that spot since I've brought you guys here. You're lucky to have someone like that as a friend." the figure said. I looked to Delila who was still asleep in the chair, then back at the figure. "How long was I out for?" I asked in a weak, coarse grunt. "About two days. I was starting to get worried you weren't gonna wake up. Those dudes at the facility really took a toll on you. It sickens me how they're using those torture devices like the one you were hooked up to. I just wanna rip their heads off!" the voice said enraged. "Please...there's worse things that could happen." I replied. "Hey..where am I...and who are you?" I asked the figure. In response, the shadowy figure stepped into the light of the moon so I could see more clearly. I could recognize him now! It's that boy who was chained up in the cell with us, the one who broke us out! "You...you're...a half demon...like me." I said as I remembered the glowing demonic arm the boy had. General McCarber even said he was one of the five half demons left in this world. The eyes widened, there was almost a hint of fear. He grabbed his demonic arm which was glowing it's soft blue again through the cracks in the red hide. He pulled down his rolled down sleeve, trying to cover up the light. He must feel uncomfortable revealing his identity, I can relate to that.

"You still haven't answered my questions." I said. I waited..."Fine, I'll make the first introduction. I'm Kimiko. And my sleeping friend is Delila." The half demon boy turned his head and looked at me. "My name's Nero....we're in an abandoned motel in Washington D.C. Those soldiers are still searching the city for us. They've got helicopters, M16's, and tanks patrolling the city, Which means we have to get going soon before they get to our sector of the city. You think you're up for another run with those wounds?" he said as he walked toward the window and stared out at the moon. "Washington D.C! How are Delila and I supposed to get back home?! We're from New York! There's no way we'd be able to walk that far on our own! Besides, they've probably alerted every cop on the East Coast about our escape! They're going to be looking for us!" I said surprised as I finally managed to pull my mangled body into a sitting position. I forgot, General McCarber had said he had taken us to a secret base below The Pentagon. Well it won't be a secret for much longer! "Dude!!...I mean, Nero!...Whatever your name is! Since we know about the facility, we can find a way to alert the public! They'd be outraged if they heard about a secret base that captures and tortures creatures like us, and if not us, the fact that they did so to a human! They had no need to chain up Delila too!" I said as I grabbed my searingly painful wounds. "I'd hate to burst you're bubble, but I doubt anybody would listen to a couple of fugitive half demons. Humans are a panicky bunch. One thing out of the ordinary and they start screaming and running around like ants. That's why things like us are kept secret from the world." Nero said, stepping away from the window and grabbing a canned drink of some sort from the cooler in the kitchen and began to chug it down. "But I just don't understand why! Why can't we just live like everyone else, out in the open, not having to fear our discovery?"

"I don't think we should chat right now. We really need to get going befo-" "FUGITIVES! WE KNOW YOU"RE IN THERE. WE HAVE THE PLACE SURROUNDED. THERE IS NO ESCAPE. COME OUT PEACEFULLY, OR WE'LL OPEN FIRE!!!" a load voice said on a megaphone. A bright light was being shown through the window. Large gust of air were rushing through the window and knocking the place about. A very loud whirring-like sound could be heard. I covered my super sensitive ears at the sudden booming noise.I rolled myself off the cot and hit the floor with an agonizing thud. I cried out in pain of my wounds. But I would have to toughen up pretty soon, or we might not make it out of this alive.

I slowly crawled my way to the window and pulled myself up to look out. A chopper was hovering right outside the window, shining an almost blinding light into my face. I looked down to the street below to see flashing red and blue lights from cop cars and huge tanks lined up in front of them. A curious crowd was barricaded behind the military group, being kept out of range. People with weapons of all sorts stood a few feet from the base of the building aiming straight up toward our window. "Crap! How'd they find us?! We gotta get outta here and- YOU! GET AWAY FROM THE WINDOWS BEFORE THE SNIPERS GET YOU!!" Nero shouted above the noise. Delila had been awakened by the sudden loudness and was now ducking on the ground, crying in terror. "LOOK OUT!!!!!" Nero yelled as he dived at me, tackling me to the ground. I screamed in pure agony as the force of his body and the floor hit my wounds.

But mere milliseconds after he made contact with me, a barrage of bullets came flying through the walls and the window. Glass and debris began to crumble down upon us. Nero brought up his demonic arm and shielded my head from the falling glass and bricks. And then it just stopped. The firing had ceased. I attempted to sit up again, but Nero then used his strong demonic arm and shoved me back to the floor. Still laying there on top of me, I struggled and squirmed underneath him. "Let me up! They've stopped firing! We should make a run for it!" I said, trying to roll away. "Stay down. Don't move. Don't make a sound. There's no way they're done firing yet. Just wait until I come up with a plan." He whispered next to my ear. He's kept us alive so far since we escaped, I should keep listening to him then. So I laid still beneath him, both of us breathing heavy out of fear. Delila was still huddled in a corner, tears streaming down her face.

"THOSE WERE JUST WARNING SHOTS! THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE BEFORE WE START LAUNCHING THE MISSILES!!" the megaphone voice announced. I could her the engine of one of the M16 jets roar by the building. Apparently Nero had finally come up with an idea because his eyes twinkled with excitement for a second. He signaled for Delila to crawl over to us. She laid on her stomach and used her forearms to pull herself across the floor to us. "So what's the plan?" she said, her whole body trembling. "On the count of three, you guys grab onto me. We're going to leap out the window." Nero whispered. "What?! Are you nuts?! They're right outside! They're going to kill us!" I angrily whispered back. "Just trust me, I know how to get past them." he winked at us. "Ok, ready? One...Two....THREE!!" and the second he said that, Delila wrapped her arms around his neck and hopped onto his back, and he scooped me into his arms again as I held on tightly. Nero then, carrying us, sprang up and we jumped out.
