My Journey Of Time
my adventure as it unfolds
Waking Up To Goodbye
I woke up after many hours. The pain from my wounds had greatly diminished due to my faster healing abilities, though they still smarted a lot. As I looked around, I saw Nero and Delila chatting quietly, sitting in chairs somewhat close to me. I also saw that Dante had returned from wherever he went the other night. He was standing at the window and staring out it with a blank face. His red jacket hung up on the coat rack, he stood there topless.

I grunted as I used some effort to sit myself up. Hearing signs of life from me, Dante, Nero, and Delila all gathered around me, their faces lighting up a little. Delila threw herself at me and hugged me. It hurt, but I endured it for her because I knew how she must have felt. "Kimiko, you're finally awake!" Nero softly exclaimed. I groaned and tried to move, very stiff from just waking up and my aching wounds. "Uuugh ... How long was I out?" I asked. I didn't know how long I was asleep for after I blacked out. "You've been out for almost two days..." Dante said, pulling up a chair with the others. With tears in her eyes, Delila stated "Nero called me the other night and told me what happened, so I rushed over to see you." She sounded very worried. I wouldn't blame her. "Wait, I thought your mom grounded you. So how did you get out?" I asked. "Are you kidding?! I'm not just gonna leave you here like this while I'm stuck in my room! For something like this, I can deal with any extra punishment she'll give me when I get back."

"Now that you're awake, tell us what happened the other night." Nero said. That's right. I didn't tell them about that fast guy who attacked me on the roof. So I dove into my explanation. "Well, I had a lot on my mind, so I left Delila's and went around the rooftops, trying to clear my head. Then, this guy just magically appears behind and tries to shove me off the building! I managed to stay on the roof, but then we got into this huge fight and he was saying stuff about my powers.. and my father..." I paused. Then continuing, "He was so fast, I couldn't even touch him. Then the idiot went and cut and stabbed me a lot with his sword the jumped off the building and left me for dead! He said his name was .... dang what was his name again?! .." I couldn't remember. "Vergil?" Dante filled in the name for me. ".Y-Yeah... But how'd y-" I started. "Please! I know those kind of cuts anywhere! It was definitely Vergil." Dante snuffed. "Who's Vergil?" Nero asked. "He said he was Dante's brother.....is that true, Dante?" I said, looking directly at Dante. "Yea, he is. He may be physically related to me, but believe me, he's no brother of mine..." Dante said with an evil undertone. Then I remembered, "Hey.. Dante? Before I blacked out when I got back here, you left. You said you had some business to take care of... where'd you go anyway?" Dante sounded angry at this. "I've already told you, it's none of your guys' concern! My business is my business! Got it?!" he replied, his voice level rising.

"Ok, geez! Don't blow a gasket dude!" I said. What's he getting all worked up about? I was the one who just got a sword through the chest! Not caring about my condition, I gathered some strength and attempted to stand up. I got to my feet ok, but couldn't stay up for long. I wobbled weakly and almost dropped to the floor, but Nero quickly placed my arm over his shoulders and placed a firm hand on my waist to hold me up. I signaled Nero where I wanted to go and he helped me limp across the floor. I slipped my feet into my shoes and made Delila come hold me instead, then I made her help me hobble for the door. "Wait! Where the heck are you going?!" Nero asked alarmed. I turned to him and answered. "Look, I know what just happened is important, and we should probably find this Vergil guy, but with speed like that he'd be too fast for me to track. Besides I've got other things to take care of. Besides, Delila needs to get back because her mom will probably be pissed. So we're going home." I explained. "Home?! You can barely stand, let alone walk! Look, that humvee is still here from when you guys escaped that facility. I'll drive you guys." He said, walking over to his desk and grabbing the keys. "I'll come too." Nero said grabbing some things. "No" Dante declared. "But why?" Nero asked. "Hey, someone's gotta watch the shop while I'm gone, kid." Dante said sarcastically, though his mood sounded better.

Delila hobbled me over and helped me into the front seat, then she climbed in the back. Dante took the wheel and we left. As we drove, I began thinking about everything. I mean, I knew that what had happened to me was important, but I have more important things on my mind to worry about. Those government agents are finally off the lawn, which me the well is open for me to go back to the feudal era. My main objective is to find my brothers. That's why I went back in the first place. (though that's probably what got me in trouble with everything in the present.) Besides, I'm supposed to be helping Inuyasha and the gang against Naraku. These prior engagements are far more important than whatever family feud Dante is having with his new-found son and apparent brother. Besides, a lot of bad things have been happening in the present lately, so it might be more peaceful in the past.

We pulled in in front of the house, and Delila got out to help me. Feeling stronger now, I waved her away to go inside. Besides, (though I didn't tell her) I needed to talk to Dante alone. After she had left, I turned to face Dante in the driver's seat. I tried to put it simply. "Look, Dante. A lot of things have been happening lately, and they all seem to be related to you in some way. So I think it'd be best if I didn't see you and Nero for a while. Besides, I have prior engagements that require me in the feudal era." Dante didn't answer for a second, but eventually said "Yea, I understand. Just do what you need to do." I stared at him for a while, long and hard. I know I still have mixed feelings about him, but there's still that side of me that says he's a good guy. "Look, it may be a very long time before we see each other again. I mean, I don't know who time with the well works. I mean sometimes it's the same, sometimes a day or so has passed, but it could be more. So I just want you to know that." I think he knew what I was trying to say. He knew I was saying goodbye. He placed a hand behind my head and leaned over and kissed me on my forehead. I was a little taken by surprise by this, but I allowed it. Besides I wanted to remember him as a good person before I left, because I knew I'd be gone for a long time.

I said goodbye and got our of the vehicle, and limped myself to the backdoor as Dante drove out of sight. I had to take the back door because I didn't want Delila's mom to see me. She had gone in the front to distract her mom by letting herself be yelled at for leaving the house. I sneakily hobbled myself up the stairs, into Delila's room, and onto my bed in the closet. Feeling very tired now, I began to take off my clothes to change into my pajamas. As I did so, I stopped when I took my shirt off because something in the mirror in my closet caught my eye. I had assumed most of my cuts were already sewn up by one of them, but as I looked the mirror, I saw that my whole upper chest had been wrapped in gauze and medical wrap bandages. Though I felt a little weird that they had to do it, I felt glad to have friends who would help me in such a time and situation like this. I gently caressed my finger on the bandages, feeling it and outlining the shape, remember how painful it was when Vergil had thrust his sword straight through my chest. I went back to finish changing, then softly laid myself on my bed and fell to sleep quickly.

After a few days rest to gain my strength again (and for Delila's grounding to be finished), Delila and I decided it was time to get back to the feudal era to search for my brothers as we had originally planned. We gathered supplies, wen to the well, and jumped in. We met up with Inuyasha and the group and we told them all about what had happened on the other side. After a long time of catching up with each other, we set back out on our adventure to search for my brothers. (and kill Naraku while we're at it)

It's been a little over a year now, and It's about five months until I'll be seventeen. Delila and I go back and forth between the feudal era and the present. She mainly stays in the present because she has school and other things, while I usually stay in the feudal era to help Inuyasha and the group while I try to gather clues about finding my brothers. Though I usually visited Delila in the present about once or twice a week, I have not been to see Dante or Nero this whole time. But little did I know, probably the biggest step in my journey was about to occur.
