s**t happens, but not if I can help it.
Alleys
Been a while since I added one of these but right now feels good. Got a minute, not doing anything, no one asking help with anything, in a good mood, so why the hell not. Anyway, this entry shall be about what I call "the alleys". They are a part of Dusk, of the central main aboveground (yes there's stuff underground, we'll get there eventually) city. So, here we go.

Picture this; You're standing in what appears to be the setting of a silent hill game, and for those that have never played any of them I'll elaborate. A dense fog permeates the area, visibly wafting about, illuminated by the sun's presence overhead, which while moderately lighting the area is smothered by the fog as well. The ground is sparkling somewhat with wetness, as though there had just been a heavy rain. No sounds of modernization, whether it be cars, people, airplanes overhead, there's no sound but the softness of the fog and your own wet footsteps. You can tell you're in a town, a somewhat large one at that, but you can only make out the faces of the buildings around you. As you continue in towards the heart of the city, you enter the alleys. Basically, the buildings seem to come close together, and are shaped irregularly. Some triangular, some like tetris pieces. All of them however, seem to stretch up forever into a now much darker sky. In fact I'm personally positive it is just an infinite blackness that is another realm in itself, but again, I'll elaborate later.

There is a bit of a hum in these narrow "streets" that are really more like alleys, thus the name. The sound comes from small lamps attached to the side of the buildings themselves. They look like closed, hanging flowers, but are something of an attempt at street lights. I remembered they hummed softly, an electric hum but one you could feel in the air. It had a protective feel about it, and as dark and twisted as some parts of Dusk ARE, and as dark as this particular place SEEMS, the atmosphere made through the humming in the air feels rather reassuring. I remember my grandmother lived in one of these buildings, a flower lamp hanging right above her door. She wasn't my grandmother, at least she had no resemblance of either of my grandmothers from my real life, but the feeling was there nonetheless.

The insides of ALL, not just this one, but ALL of the buildings feels/looks somewhat the same. The look and feel of a typical grandparent's house. All of the people that lived within these buildings were somewhat older, and seemed rather knowledgeable of Dusk itself, but I remember none of them would ever help me by explaining anything I asked about Dusk. It seemed to be against the "rules" or something, at least that was the impression I got. Also I think I should note that all the houses are connected, and yes in the typical one-room-leads-to-another sort of way, which is astonishing because from outside they are all separated by the alleys. Damned dimensional s**t, I know! Other than all of that, there's not much else I can say about the alleys. It's one of the first places I remember seeing in Dusk, but it's also one of the places that I've seemed to go to most often.
