Rusty and withered window seal. One hundred forty-three feet above those fields of dandelion. She sat there, as she had many times before - but something was different now. Something had changed. She wondered - take the leap? The fall will inadvertently crush her bones. But what were they anymore anyways? What are they but barricades to the soul and to the heart? Trapped in like a primitive caged animal awaiting it's masters beating. Why should they have to run in circles like lap dogs?
No, the leap was to be her freedom. The clicking of a modest starlet's red high heels. "There's no place like home." No, better than any home. If home is where the heart is then we're all just out of luck. It was to be her light at the end of crumpled and dark tunnel. Her salvation. Tears will do her no good. Goodbyes are easily forgotten. She stands and balances her shaken body on the used-to-be golden frame.
She leaps....
Falling was her calm before the storm. It was getting ready to set off but she did not care. She finally knew. She knew exactly who she was and exactly who she wanted to be. She knew of heaven and hell. She saw God smiling and Satan roaring with infuriation. She understood why life has to get worse before it gets better. She was completely in touch with the world. She knew how everyone felt at that moment. Everyone......
"Freedom," she spoke, as the dandelion field - finally - danced around her....
We will never wither, we will never fade, all we will is be free. Free to be, you and me.
