A good friend is someone you can with out a doubt call at three in morning and say I need help and that person would be there for you.
I can call her no matter what time of day and I know she will listen and give her advice on matters.
i think it's important that they trust you and that you can on trust them... and thats all that is needed

They gotta be someone who you can have fun with, but they also have to be the kind of person who knows what is best for you. They have to be the kind of person who you can trust, because best friends are supposed to be the people who you can count on. A best friend has got to be the kind of person who you can ask a big favor for with no questions asked. They gotta be the kind of person who will go out to you at 2 in the morning in the rain, to give you a ride because your car broke down. A best friend is the kind of person who you can call anytime of day. A best friend does not have to like everything you like. Your best friend can be completely different than you. Your best friend also has to not take advantage of the big favors, and they don't call in the middle of the night when it is not an emergency. And a best friend can't ask you to do these favors are make these calls if it equals a sacrifice to you. Whenever my best friend calls and asks for a favor, he knows that I cannot miss class. No matter what.. He is a good enough friend to respect that line.
A best friend has to fit the qualifications you deteremine make a best friend. Most of us will not have one best friend our entire lives. I believe I have had 7 in 30 years time, not including my sister, but including my boyfriend. If you don't want a friend that treats you like garbage and manipulates you, then you're going to have to be the one to get her out of your life. Additionally, it's not the amount of time you've known someone that makes him/her your best friend. It's how you feel when the two of you are together! Do you like spending time with this person over other people in your life? and Why? are two really important questions. I don't know what you should do with your new friendship or your long-time friendship, except keep and open mind, and do what's best for YOU!

Be there when u need them, listen to ur problems and help u solve them, not being selfish, someone who u could talk to about anything without worry about anything...does that make sense ? anyway and also honest, loyal, and trustful.
FINALLY MY VERSION: a bestfriend is someone you can b 100% open with and completely trust them, not having a second thought that they will tell someone something you spoke of in confidence. A bestfriend is someone u enjoy talkin to. A bestfriend is someone that never cuts u down or at least tries not to. (u will have some small fights or slip ups now nd then) A bestfriend is someone who oves u 2 death and helps u with choices, hard times, and knows whats best for u and who u are. A bestfriend will nt keep anything secret, get tired of ur company, think of u as under her, bad mouth u 2 another girl, or hopes ur relationship wont go well (unless the dudes a phyco). A bestfriend does nt hurt u intentionally and not regret it.
