Chapter 1: The Birth of Zane
Far from the current chaos on Tokyo, there is another war in Fukuoka, Japan. It is an endless war of not only angels and demons, but also war of vampires and lycans. The HallowEye family, an aristocratic family living in the area and known to be the most powerful, is the one responsible for the uprising. The HallowEyes called out the demons to banish the angels visiting Fukuoka, as a part to patrol Japan, since the family's breadwinner is a vampire and his wife is a high demon and they never liked unexpected intruders in their territory. The lycans, known in the area as Holy Wolves, signed a treaty between them and the angels and caused the war. People started to evacuate but the Mitsukis (the survivors from Tokyo, read Daisuke's story) came and stopped the war temporarily.
The wife of the HallowEye leader is about to give birth. By night the same day, the war started again when the Mitsukis decided to leave, and the woman was also laboring.
She was blessed with a young boy, they named him Zane (a variant form of the name John, because even though they go against God's lieutenants, He still gave them a child).This Zane HallowEye, in the whole HallowEye family is actually the 13th Zane. Which means... his full name is Zane HallowEye, XIII.
But just a few seconds after his birth, a gust of wind just blew. The wind blew a black fog over boy. The couple were scared.
"Don't worry... Mr. Vampire and Mrs. Demon, you've awakened the spirit of the Shadows inside this child of yours, meaning this child will be different from both of you, he is neither vampire nor demon, he's a shadow, the hybrid of those two." the spirit said. "I will give him this little gift that will guide him forever, as long as there's light, that is."
The spirit touched the child's shadow, the shadow separated from the original body, making two of them. "This is Zane's shadow, he will know how to use it when he turned to the age of thirteen."
Just then, another gust blows and the spirit was gone, it left a hidden power inside Zane and he will carry it forever.

Chapter 2: The World in the Eyes of Zane
It's been a long time already since Zane's birth, about seven long years of everlasting wars, wars between races. The War of the Races is still not finished. Zane is isolated inside their manor for him not to see the unsightly terrors of war by the hillside.
"I wonder... why is this world like this? Why am I born at a time like this?" Zane thought, since he started to think about it two years ago.
Zane thought that the only world is the world around the HallowEye manor, in Fukuoka. He thought Earth is a world of wars, wars between races.
"Sometimes I feel someone whispering to me. I can't see it, but I can feel it." Zane uttered, not knowing it is his shadow.
Zane ran to his room, which is really huge and has a Gothic theme. "It's so lonely in this place. I always see the similar faces everyday. I can even hear the word 'friend'. 'Friend'? What's a 'friend'?" Zane continues to utter to himself, looking over the window, seeing the ruins of the war.
Zane walked around the house to have a little attraction, but after the 'tour', nothing changed, he is still alone with no one to play with. The butlers and maids are always busy at their work, they don't have pets, nor TV, nor any of the newest innovations of the new generation, not even simple toys. His parents are always at the battlefield, killing every lycan that tries to enter the grounds of their territory.
The only one Zane have is... himself. Including his shadow, which is still lurking in the darkness, waiting for Zane's thirteenth birthday.
At the very same afternoon, Zane finally decided to disobey the laws, realizing that he's all alone. He now needs a companion, someone to be with him, to play with him, entertain him, and befriends with him. That very time Zane walked out of the manor, he will be discovering a new world, a world that he has never seen inside their manor. He looked upon the sky, it is blue, birds flying and chirping, even if there's a war. The trees sway and dance with the wind. The clouds follow the wind too. The sun shines over him, and the world around him.
Suddenly, he saw a colorful "bridge". "It is a rainbow as they call it." Zane finally smiled after seven long years. "This world is something, it is unique and beautiful."
Zane took a walk around the hill, not recognizing that he will see a whole new world, different from the one he knew.

Chapter 3: A Parallel World
As Zane walks down the hill, away from the war, he saw a girl, which also looks like a fox. According to her looks, she is a lycan, but unlike the violent werewolves, she is a tranquil and shy fox. When Zane looked at her, she ran away as fast as she could. Zane followed the girl but the girl just runs too fast that when Zane reached a cliff, she is out of sight already. Zane, instead saw a huge urbanized city, filled with humans. Unlike in their dark manor, it is a world so colorful and so lively. The sky blue skies can be seen clearly with the touch of the gentle breeze from Hakata Bay. The city is known as Fukuoka.
"The world of humans? This is the world of humans?" Zane was astonished. "I never knew the world can be this alive and colorful."
Unknown of Zane, the fox girl is also there, hiding behind the bushes, also astonished as a view they never saw before.
"This is so beautiful, I can't believe the world of the humans are much different than ours." she said. The fox girl stood up and walked up to Zane's position.
"Hello, my name's Mirai, Inoue Mirai." she greets Zane.
"I'm Zane, Zane HallowEye."
"HallowEye?!" something seemed to pop out of Mirai's mind. "Hm? What's with HallowEye?"
"Oh nothing, I thought it just sounded familiar."
Zane just ignored what Mirai said recently. He then looks over the city.
"Is it also your first time here, Zane?" Mirai asked.
"Well... I've never went out of my house, after seven long years, I thought the world is harsh, I never thought that the world I know as harsh hides this beauty." Zane replied as he breathes the breeze.
"I go out everyday to the forest but it is the first time I ended up here."
"The view makes me feel so happy, it seems like all my doubt about this world is now gone."
"I know! Let's play a game." Zane just stared at Mirai. "Aw, come on, let's play a game! Try to chase me and if you caught me, I'll try to chase you, okay?"
"Okay, sounds fun to me."
The two children played around the forest for so long. They have finished and got tried by sundown. "Hey, hey, Zane, look, it's the sun!"
"The sun?"
"Well... the sun is a bright sphere in the sky. It brings this world a light, a light that can be seen by everyone. And somehow, without that light, the world would be dead and lack of life. The sun is some sort of a guardian to our world." Mirai explained.
"Well, I wanna be like the sun!"
"You also want to bring this world a light?"
Zane stares at the beautiful sunset at Hakata Bay. "I will show the vampires and the lycans the light they have needed for a long time so that the war would stop."
"I don't understand... it's too figurative."
"In short, I will stop the War of the Races and bring peace throughout the land and I will need your help Mirai."
"My help?" Mirai blushed and also looks at the sunset. "Okay, we will stop the war so vampires and lycans will be at peace and maybe... we can finally join the humans in their own world."
The two children kept this promise as the sun sets. They stood up and went on their separate ways home. But this isn't the last time they will see each other, for when the time comes, they will succeed with their plans and be able to bring forth the light that their race has been looking for.
