Aguan Royal Order of Mages

The Aguan Royal Order of Mages exists as a branch of the military but also as a branch of study. They are devoted to furthering Fantasya's understanding of magic (and other assorted things such as classes) but are required to report their findings back to the king in order to receive funding and stay a member. Every two years the Order requires each mage to return to the capital and undergo an examination to guarentee that they are still in top shape for battle while submitting a report of their progress. All mages are required to answer back to the crown in times of war and agree to follow war orders just as the army and the navy would.

The Order classifies each mage by level. The higher the level, the more access to forbidden information and higher funding. Higher ranking members get more perks such as access to highly guarded libraries and often an office or a lab to conduct experiments in. Those ranked in the highest level are awarded a special honor similar to knighting someone and are free to come and go in the country without following the scheduled visits. The levels are as follows from lowest to highest.

Doje // Reol // Mii // Faun // Sol // Lav // Tia // Douw

The most common level is a Reol which is granted limited funding to support a mage's travel as they journey from country to country. Levels after that are much more seclusive, especially the Douw, which it is said there are only about a handful. In order to improve one's level, a mage must either pass written and combat tests or be recommended and approved by a person of higher rank (the royal family included).

Those interested in becoming a member of the Order must apply at the main office in Agua's capital and be approved before taking a placement test. Prior magic experience is highly encouraged but not required. Non-Aguans must go through a slightly different process for an honorary unpaid position. The policy is that only Aguan citizens are eligible for royal funding but it is still possible to be a part of the Order for the prestige or cause without the funding or lab offers. They will still be allowed into the typicals libraries as they progress through the levels however.

This will continue to be updated as information becomes necessary. This guide is still incomplete so please forgive any gaps and feel free to ask any questions.
