Izumi's Arrival
She let out a sigh, eyes closed. Is this really what I should do? Her mind's voice echoed through her head. She was alone in a corner booth. The bar was busy this time of day, yet here she was, alone. Long black locks draped against her cheeks and shoulders, accented by blue highlights down to the root. The most obvious symbol of her curse, a curse that ruined her life.

A gangly figure of sorts approached her, white-skinned with large eyes like shiny pieces of coal. As she heard it come forward, her eyes opened, revealing sapphire blue in the center of the stark white. She looked so human.

But she wasn't.

She left the diner, eyes adjusting to the bright lights. She had almost forgotten that she was at the space station. Only a few days before, she was sitting in her home in Kindor, listening to Iku'Ro drone on about how they would be together through whatever may come. Unconsciously, she shivered in disgust. Iku'Ro. How dare her mind return to him. That traitor of an ex-boyfriend. It was because of him that she was in this situation in the first place. He was the one who caused her to be banished from her homeworld.

The space station was busy this time of year. Of course, this one in particular was one of the most popular in the universe. Really, it was like a whole country condensed down. People bustled past her left and right, merchants looking for a chance to make a quick deal. This was all new to her. The worst of it all, it was leaving her rather empty inside. She wanted so badly to be back in the arms of her mother, to see her father again. Well, maybe not see her father. After all, he was all too happy to expose her as a threat. She could never live up to his expectations. What were they? To be a boy.

The sudden sharp, stabbing pain on her arm snapped her out of her thoughts. Scurrying to an alleyway, she bit her lip as the pain started to throb. Her back leaned against the cold steel wall as her free left hand gently pulled back her right sleeve. With her arm exposed, she stared at the alein lettering tattooed on her arm as it started to bleed again.

Exiled.

The word stung her mind as badly as the tattoo pinched her skin. Every banished Kindorian bore it on his or her arm. It was to set an example for the rest of the society, but it was rare that Kindorian elders would actually set out to exile one of their own. How lucky for her that she was one of the few.

She started to sigh and raise her hand over the letters. Her palm slowly warped, immediately bekoning to her call and changing into water to clean away the blood. As quickly as it happened, it was down, and she came back out of the alley as if nothing happened.

This was her curse, this young alein. Her command over water was feared by her kind. Though her species is water-based, and therefore, water did not affect their society very negatively, it was why and how her power was provided that was scary. And, what she could do if she lost control.

Nearing the end of her trek, she let out a sigh of releif, feeling that this may be the best for her. It was the only way she could restart her life. Everything on Kindor was no more for her.

Entering the building, she was pleased to see that there were not many others inside. She cautiously stepped up to the secretary, seeing that she ( at least she thought it was a she ) was busy. When the secretary finally looked up, the Kindorian female began to speak. " Am I late for sign-ups?" The secretary shook her head, nodding for her to sign in. The young alein obliged, scribbling her name and sitting down in the waiting room.

It wasn't long before she was called, and she hesitantly followed the alein male into the next room, an office of sorts she discovered. He sat down, eyes studying her file.

" You have an impressive file. I see that you also requested to take residence on another planet and change your name. Tia'Mel, am I right? Does it not mean 'Child of Great Promise' ?"

" Yes sir, but I just do not wish to use my Kindorian name. I have chosen a better name, at least to me, and I want to start my new life with this name."

Baffled, the male finally obliged, taking out a form from his desk and a pen. " Alright then, what shall be your new name, miss?"

" Izumi Sanchez."

" What is your desired planet of new residence?" Her lips curled into a smile as she felt for the first time the hope of her new life. Her greatest hope was to find a new friend. Maybe she would find a new love. It would be everything she'd ever want, and everything she'll need. As her heart skipped a beat, the next word came out like a breath of fresh air.

" Earth."
