Random Bits of Writing
I'll post a lot of the stuff I'm either working on or finished with here. I'll label them as to if they are finished or not and if they're another addition to a pre-exsisting story, that will be mentioned as well. XP enjoy, review truthfully & fairly
Random Zombie story

“Drive the ******** back!”

The air was filled with the smoke of guns and the fires left by explosives, with the sounds of shots being fired and the clicking of ammo being reloaded, the screams of those unfortunate enough to be wounded and under it all, was the blood-curdling moaning sound coming from the rotting throats of the abominations who were ultimately responsible for the encounter in the first place.

The speaker: a woman in her middle 30’s with red-brown hair that had been crudely hacked off so it barely covered her scalp, loaded, aimed and fired her rifle. The bullet hit Dead thing in the forehead and it dropped instantly. She wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead.

“Elaine!” She looked up at the call and threw herself to one side as one of the Dead managed to get itself over the barrier. Another shot and it stopped moving. “Thanks Jack.” She called over one shoulder as she picked herself up. The man: no more than a year or so older than she, kept his sky blue eyes trained on the area around them.

Elaine grimaced as she reloaded her gun and scanned the surrounding area. They had killed most of the Dead that had ambushed them as they tried to escape the city. They had lost almost half of their group though. Her face hardening, she fired at another that had gotten too close to their make-shift barricade. This was to be their last salvage run before they would abandon the city to the Dead and the foolish who still hoped the military or the Government would save them.

That was a stupid dream now. The Plague had spread, and it killed all that it touched. The things that surrounded them were its victims. You didn’t survive the Plague. If you were infected you had 24 hours before you became one of them. Unknown to her, one of the Dead had crept up on her blind spot. She saw movement and looked as the Dead thing leaped for her, its teeth sinking into her arm. She shot it and it lay at her feet, twitching.

Fear engulfed her. No way. No ******** way. She was going to die. How could she be so stupid? The effects of the tainted saliva wouldn’t kick in until the third hour though, she could still fight. “Jack!” she called, “Give me that last grenade!” He frowned as he looked at her, and she held up her arm. Shock shot through him, she could see it in his eyes. She knew he wanted to protest, to say that this time it would be different. But they had learned after the first five weeks that even the smallest scratch from the Dead, if any body fluids were exchanged, would prove fatal.

Always.

He wanted to pretend that it wouldn’t though; for their kids’ sake if nothing else. But there was nothing he could do. Reluctantly he complied. Elaine caught it one handed, dropped what she was carrying as it would serve her very little for what she was going to do. She blew him a kiss and turned before he could see the tears in her eyes.

She flung herself out from behind the pitiful barricade, shouting incoherently so as to draw the monsters’ attention. They swarmed her just seconds after she pulled the pin and blasted them to oblivion.

That was how my mother died, a year after I was born.

I've always wanted to write a zombie story for some reason and now I've got an idea for a plot line. I chose to set it as though the humans were losing and were scattering to what places they could. This is what I've gotten so far *nodnod*

As usual, feed back is much appreciated =D
