Texan Women Are Weird
Okay, guys... So, like, I know you never read my journal. And if you do, you don't comment. BUT! Either way... I feel like writing and I'm not roleplaying with anyone so I'll write here.

There's been something on my mind the past few days, and I thought I might share it with you. If you're reading. If not, I'm just a lame loser who tells stories to thin air.

The other morning, my best friend and I were walking from his house to mine. The path between our houses runs along the highway, and so , since we live next to a casino as well, normally we're seen as hitch-hikers/runaways/prostitutes... But that's a different story.

So anyways... We meet this woman dragging a black roller luggage thingy, and their's a black pug/beagle mix by her side (I'm not a dog freak, she told us the breed). She asked us where the nearest restaurant was, and we explained everything to her, and then got to talking.

She said she was from Texas, and that she had a lot of money. She'd lost her house and two dogs in a fire, and so now she had taken her life savings and had decided to travel on foot all the ways from Texas to a place here in California. She had the accent, and she looked like she was from Texas, so my friend and I mostly believed her.

She said that she was going to visit her daughter and her daughter's family, which lived in Modesto, California, a few hours from where I live. She showed us pictures of her grandkids, and basically, we all just talked for a little bit.

She asked my friend and I if we were headed to school, and then, much to our ego's happiness, she told us we looked like we could be heart-breakers. We explained no. Especially since when we met up with her, I was smoking a cigarette, and so was my friend, so it wans't all that likely we were walking to school

She seemed totally content with her life, though! Like, even though she'd just gone through this horrible ordeal, she still had a smile on her face, and it was so refreshing! She laughed, we laughed... It was so cool to see someone that was so... Happy. She was excited to see her grandkids and her daughter.

We came up with the idea later that she was probably lying, but either way, we didn't care. We hoped she wasn't about to commit suicide (most people act really happy before they off themselves), but we pushed that thought away, too.

I don't know. It was just one of those small little things that stick with you. It made me feel really good inside to know that there was still hope for happiness in the world.
