(Plot thickens as the two meet a new foe and the real force behind the ruby wars)
A gaurd to the castle sat leaning against the wall half asleep when he heard a ruckus nearby. He went to reach for the door when a man was thrown through. He was tossed to the ground and stuck under the now dead man. He craned his neck up to see two cloaked figures walking into the room from another room bloodied and filled with dead gaurds. One of them pulled thier hood back. It was a dark elf whose eyes gave him chills. The elf unsheathed his sword and put it to the gaurds neck in a playful and murderous manner and asked where the king was. The soldier fumbled with his words and eventually pointed to a nearby stairwell. The elf raised the sword and brought it down on the gaurd.
Ranoras slid his hood back once more and shook his head. He turned to the stairwell and muttered, "So many people forced to such an unjust cause with such unwavering loyalty that they would die for it." Rashika spoke with reassurance, "That is why we must seal his soul away forever." Ranoras nodded his head knowing it to be the truth. He turned to the stone stairwell and flew up it. The stagnant air whistling in his ears as he ran past the broken shutters. He made it to the king's room and stopped. It was covered in dust and nothing stirred. A figure lay in the bed frozen in time and not responding. The elf made it up shortly and gave an astonished look.
"What happened here?" Rashika asked voicing both thier thoughts. A low chuckle sounded from the room as a shadow rose from a blackish orb in the far corner of the room. "It seems you still don't know your true enemies. The watchers were behind the Ruby Wars, but this puppet fool of a king was unable to acquire enough spirits as yourselves to fight for him. It was much easier to get your aid when you were a demon Ranoras." Ranoras saw the war flash up in his eyes. In the spirit world a king had been using enchanted rubies to bring souls under his control. As a demon he had been captured by a bounty hunter who was of course betrayed by the king. He owed a human for his escape. Because of it him and a demon, Rashika, were able to stop the king from his unkown plans. Ranoras drew his katana which was faintly glowing green. He lunged forward to slash, but the shadow drew away and dissapeared. Ranoras looked around and noticed a demon in a white hooded robe grabbing the orb in the corner. The very sight of the face brought Ranoras to his knees. He felt a fire rushing through his skull and the things eyes glowed as thought on fire also. It put its hood on and jumped from the window. Ranoras felt as though he was going to vomit. Suddenly flames erupted from him and scorched the room setting fire to the castle. Rashika dragged him up and the two started to run from the now blazing castle. As they ran Ranoras noticed his fur wasn't even scorched from the fire.
