Event Two
I growled wildly as I fired my shotgun at Liz, taking care not to kill her just yet. She leapt and spiralled away from the pellets ripping through the air attempting to meet their target. She had seen my face, she knew what I was. I thought she would understand but she had attempted to stake me, to rid the world of my presence. I opened my heart to her, it was time to correct that mistake. She let loose a hail of rounds from her pistols, they were inacccurate and easily avoidable. We continued our dance, firing off rounds and dodging them. It seemed that vampires and hunters shall forever be trapped in the waltz of destruction that is our war. We both ducked behind the cold metal walls of the ancient amusement park. I smelled a hint of blood and tears from behind her metal shield, I had shot her, one of the pellets must've connected. The tears was what set me off guard, what purpose would she have for crying? This was her job as a trained vampire huntress was it not? I heard her swear and her pistols clatter uselessly to the ground, I fooled myself into thinking I had her now, but I looked down at my ammo belt to see if I had any shells left. I was out, just like her. The sound of a sword unsheathing caught my attention, so I dropped my shotgun and drew my curved sword.
"Liz? You do realize you sealed your fate when you attempted to slay me!"
"Why did you lie to me like this, Mark!? Why didn't you tell me you were one of them?! Did you not trust me?!?!"
I stepped out of the shadows, blade in hand, my facial features relaxed, completely cold. "I did, but you are a Valentine. Notorious for killing any vampire with such an emotionless ruthlessness that rivals the very first breed of hunters. Besides, what do you care! We are just friends!" it hurt to say those last four words, because a part of me wanted more with Elizabeth, a chance to be with her, to hold her, kiss her, just be hers. I heard Liz slowly step out of her hiding spot, the sword she wielded dragging on the ground, "Marcus...?" She readied the blade at her throat, then I lost control of my body. I found myself darting towards her, sprinting with all my strength just to reach her. I was afraid. I didn't even realize how much she meant to me until that moment. When I was close enough I stopped and wrenched the blade out of her slender fingers. She gasped in pain and surprise, toppling back onto her behind. "WHAT IN GOD'S NAME ARE YOU DOING!!!" I roared, tossing the blade hard into the nearby wall. She stared up at me in shock, her bottom lip quivering. I grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and pulled her up off the ground, "What do you think suicide would solve, you moron! Do you want to end up burning in hell for eternity?!" Her hands darted up to my wrists, clenching tightly to my exposed skin. "Let me go!" she screamed, clawing and my wrists. I heard a pistol c**k behind me, "Hands up! Put the girl down and back away slowly!" Our fighting had alerted someone. My eyes shifted back, it was an officer, but he had his pistol drawn, eyes searching both of us, spotting our weapons and their sheaths. "Put her down and back away! Little girl, put your hands up as well!" he barked, his finger pulling the trigger back further. Liz looked up at me, her eyes filling with worry. "Can't do that sir." A bullet pierced my back. I turned my head, glaring at the officer. He took aim again, "Don't make me kill you, boy!" Liz's eyes darted back to me, she removed her hands and tried to shake me, "MARK! Don't be an idiot!" A second bullet tore through my leg, then a third grazed my neck, and a fourth sank into my shoulder. Pain lanced through me, I began losing focus on reality. I dropped Liz and whirled, ripping my sword out of the ground. In an instant I was behind the man, blade pressed to his jugular vein. "No, don't kill me... I have a wife and kids!" I threw him into one of the walls, sparing his pitiful existence. I looked for Liz where I had dropped her, she was gone. I stumbled back, banging my head against one of the metal walls. I couldn't bring myself to rise. "Elizabeth..." was all I could say before the inky blackness took hold of me.
