Part One
Part Three

Christopher was angry. That was, to say the least.

She had a lot to explain. If he had made her do what she had done, he would personally kill Henry.

He pulled up quickly to the address he had memorized. His contacts had given him the address long ago, but the fact that he actually had to show up at the man’s house was something he never intended to do in his life.

He shut the car door rather hard, but his anger was already focused on Emma. He stood a moment at the front door, and tried to rein it in for Emma’s sake, and for the fact that he was entering Henry’s house. He never forgot the threat that Henry kept making about bringing trouble there.

He rang the bell with some of his anger subdued for the moment. But his feelings turned to that of surprise when a woman with a coffee-cream complexion opened it. She spoke in a Latin accent.

Yes? May I help you?” she said not opening the door all the way, but a safe distance to see him and greet him properly.

Is Emma here?” he said remembering what he had come for.

His anger must have shown on his face, for the woman eyed him and frowned deeply. Her eyes looked him up and down, returning once again to his face with a scowl, and her voice firm.

She is,” the woman said in a darker tone than the one she greeted him with, “but she mentioned no one was to visit today, and Mr. Tate is resting before work.” The woman narrowed her eyes as if to warn him, “You may come in, however if she does not wish you here, I can, and shall, rouse Mr. Tate in an instant.

Christopher stifled a scoff. The look in the woman’s eyes said she knew how to cause violence with her bare hands: A look of fearlessness that made even him want to back off for a moment. She turned and let him into the landing, and shut the door behind him.

Please wait here while I get Ms. Emma.” She walked past him and turned as she reached the stairs, “Your name please?

Oh.” Christopher said startled a little from watching her with interest, “Please tell her it is Christopher.

The woman nodded her head and turned back to the stairs saying, “Very well.

With that, she was gone. He watched as she moved quickly up the stairs with narrowed eyes. She had something he had never seen in a woman before: something that told him that she could be dangerous.

But she was not his problem at the moment. His problem was with Emma. He sighed with an angry breath and turned on his heal looking at the pictures by the door. If Henry had made her do anything at all to force her into this…..

He was studying a picture of a group of people in an old photo. It was color, but it was faded, and the clothing suggested the time period. It was definitely a gathering of Henry’s family: the majority of them had red hair, and blue eyes. He saw a younger image of Henry’s father with a young image of his mother. He felt his anger ebb as he saw the smile the two wore, as Henry’s father held his wife’s shoulder, and the woman, holding an infant in a white christening gown. He touched the place where they stood with one finger. Something about their smiles... Something made it seem if he used the word “love” that would be an understatement for them.

Christopher!” He heard Emma’s bright greeting. He turned around just in time to have her enclose him in a hug. Something definitely was not right, she was hugging him. He hugged her back, but as he moved her away, he saw nothing in her face that suggested sadness, but a small, bright smile.

Helo Em.” He said returning the smile. He wanted to talk to her alone; he hoped Henry’s house had at least a privet room.

If you would, Ms. Emma,” the coffee-cream looking woman’s voice said behind her, “Take him downstairs to the den room parlor, I shall bring coffee and tea.” She had a small smile on her face, yet when her eyes past over him, her smile turned into a frown.

Just coffee Luisa, I don’t want Henry woken up… He doesn’t need to have his tea with us.” Emma said turning and smiling at her, “He’s still asleep, and doesn’t need to deal with this.

The woman, Luisa, smiled back, and nodded her head a little before turning away. She was pretty. Christopher remembered Henry mentioning a housekeeper, this was probably her. At least he hoped so. Emma didn’t seem to hate her, so he assumed she was.

Emma led him down some stares to a small enclosed area. A small TV, big enough for the room, had game consoles hooked up to it, a DVD player, DVD’s lined up below the player. He could tell that this was the family room: a small couch and a chair were there as well. It was cozy for a night with the children.

Kenna’s 'playroom.'” Emma said smiling. She pointed to the left and down a short hall, “Henry’s study and a library of sorts…” she smiled brightly, “Mostly filled with law books, but it has some history books too... Kenna’s books that she doesn’t read often are there also.

Sounds as if yoo’s has had the grand tour already.” Christopher said.

Emma fidgeted a little, and looked around, “Henry’s told me a little about down here. He’s told me that as soon as I would let him out of bed, he’d give a proper tour of the house. The downstairs parlor is this way.” She said turning into a door next to the stairs.

He entered a small-ish room furnished with two chairs, and a small sofa that didn’t look out of place. It was a nice room, Christopher had to admit, that made one feel at ease.

He took off his overcoat, throwing it over the couch, and sat down next to it, placing his leg over his knee, comfortly adjusting into the soft seat. The seats welcomed him much as the room did. Not too shabby he had to admit, for Henry that was. Emma took the large-ish chair from across him. She was fidgeting with the hem of her waitress' skirt., looking around like she was a cornered cat about to bolt.

It confirmed his suspensions.

He took time to look around the room again: let Emma calm down, least of all himself. The off white color of the place, trimmed with gold, gave the room a feel as it one really was in a parlor from back in the days. The large chairs, with the same coloring, offered the feel of importance to the room. He guessed that Henry had sat there with his wife when entertaining. There were two doors opposite each other: one of which he and Emma had come through, and another he knew not led somewhere else. The large French doors to Emma’s back, graced with side windows, were lightly draped now, with the heavy drapes seemed to be pulled back for now. It was all as if Henry were here trying to impress him with out being in the room.

Christopher decide it was just like him to do that.

There was a knock at the door, and it was opened presently with the housekeeper bearing a tray laden with a casual looking coffee set.

Coffee cakes are in the oven now Ms. Emma,” she said with her accent, “Shall I bring them too?”

Oh! Only if it doesn’t cause you anymore trouble!” Emma said jumping up to get the tray.

It is no trouble for you, Ms. Emma.” She smiled brightly at her, having her tray taken, “I enjoy making food for the people of this house.

Thank you then.” Emma said setting the tray on the coffee table between the chairs and sofa, “Please be sure to let me know when it is time for me to leave as well.

Soon, Ms. Emma.” Luisa said backing out of the door, “I will check on Mr. Tate now.

As she left, she bowed her head slightly, shot a glance at Christopher, then left. It clearly was a warning glance to tell him to behave, or she’d not only just wake Henry.

Huh.” Christopher said turning his head away as the door shut, “Now I see where his brat gets it from.

So,” Emma said as Christopher looked down at her sitting on the floor with her legs stretched out to her side. She was sitting like a lady on the floor, serving up the coffee, “What brings you here?

Ah,” Christopher said, the majority of his anger melting away. She was back to being Emma, and he loved Emma dearly, “Well, I’s was gonna be angry at ya, but ya charmed me into not being angry anymore.

Emma looked up at him. She had her classic confused face, and he couldn’t help but smile at her when she did that.

He didn’t… ya know,” Christopher said about her being at Henry’s house, “Make you stay here did he?

Emma set the coffee pot down, and got up slowly, she went back to her chair, and sat into it with a sad look on her face.

No…” she said like she was forlorn, “I stayed cause I wanted to.” She looked up at him, “I came too, because I wanted to.

Good.” Christopher said nodding and placing his leg down. He folded his arms and looked away, “’Cause I would’se have to had a talk with Him if he did make you.

Christopher.” Emma said sadly. He looked at her and saw that she looked sad too. She knew he didn’t mean it, but she seemed to take it that way, “Christopher, I don’t want him hurt like that.

Of course’s not! I was teasing you!

Christopher.” She looked away and at the floor. He let her gather her thoughts a moment, then let her speak. They had the kind of friendship where they didn’t need to speak with each other a lot, but something was on her mind, “I-” she started, but cut herself off, thinking better of what she was going to say, then said, “He makes me feel things I haven’t felt for anyone. Not even Gabriel.

Christopher unfolded his hands, and watched as she stood and went to the winnowed doors. She looked out, at what he wasn’t sure, but she was thinking about Him. Henry was better than Gabriel. No doubt. Christopher still had mixed feelings about the man, but Emma was coming close to saying the one word he knew didn’t come lightly.

Em…

He makes me smile on the inside, and giggle at his stupidity…” he saw a faint outline of a smile as she touched the light curtain, moving it aside, “I have come closer to him more than any man, and yet, there are new things I learn about him each day… and it makes me happy.

Christopher sighed with a small smile. She was in love with the moron, and yet, he knew why she didn’t want to say it. He sat back into the couch, looking at the old photographs, uninterested, but something to look at. His smile faded as he thought about Adriana. He didn’t find out anything new about her, except the bills she had racked up shopping that day. It was, perhaps, that Emma would loose this feeling soon. It had to happen to all couples. It was just young love. That was it. It was just a new, budding relationship that made her feel this way. He would be on guard more now that he knew what to look for.

Do you love Henry? Is that it?

Emma didn’t say anything. She fiddled with the curtain ends for a moment, prolonging her answer.

I don’t want to say it, and then not have it be true.” She answered back.

Christopher heard a small bell ring somewhere from upstairs. He saw Emma look up at the ceiling, alert, only relaxing when he heard soft footsteps seeming to go in the distance. Emma sighed loudly.

That man makes me want to care for him…. And it’s not like he’s making me feel this way, I’m wanting to feel this… this… whatever you would call it.

She moved towards the chair, and as she sat, Christopher heard footsteps quickly coming down the stairs, followed by a pleading voice. A few seconds later, he heard a knock at the door, followed by Henry’s person in the doorway to the downstairs parlor.

xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Very, very, very interesting. =P You're pretty good at being Christopher, but you should watch some Sopranos to get a better hold on his accent. xDDD But the 'Sounds as if you's had the grand tour already' line was absolutely perfect. xD He'd be more teasing about this though, I think - her staying there. He'd subtly suggest that she'd... Well, you know. xD Jokingly, though, as he knows her morals.

You know what really surprises me, and makes this a little creepy to read...? The fact that you got Emma's post-Gabe personality right on the money. I barely let that shine through when we were doing this RP (which I'm so totally going to post in... I miss this), yet you picked up on it. 'Tis like you were inside my head. =P Good job.

It wasn't as dramatic as Gabe, but I've been there when it comes to having had your heart messed with xD

I was going to go there in the next post where Henry comes and sits with them, and would be like: "Oh yes, we've slept together already-" *dies from Emma's death stare/murdering him* then he would say something along the lines of: "Well of course I've left the details out: It wouldn't be fun if I had told him I had 4 cats on the bed as well as being dead tired that I was half asleep!""

xDDD
