Final Farewells ( a short story of sorts )
Clack clack clack, was the sound of computer keys being hit as she tried typing out what she wanted to say. "No no no!" she muttered under her breath hitting the backspace and erasing her words. This wasn't going the way she had wanted, she wasn't sure what to say. Of course this was exactly the opposite of what she wanted to say, but everything was too far past that point to even go back now.

'I just wanted to say that " the cursor blinked at the end of the last word. What did she want to say? That it was all okay, that everything should stay the same? No, she knew that wasn't the answer since what was going on now was tearing her apart inside. She knew that she had to tell the truth, it was the advice that was given to her by everyone, but to just...

She cleared all the thoughts from her mind and took a shaky breath. She reached her hand out for her water bottle and noticed it was trembling. What was she doing? If this was so upsetting, why would she continue? Why not just ignore the situation at hand? Life could go on, no one would have to speak about what had already been silently decided... Quickly she set the water bottle down and started hitting the keys as quickly as she could.

To you,
I just wanted to say, I have to say this. I'm sorry... please just forget me and all that has happened. I know you probably already have, and that I'm steps behind... but I wanted it said, stated, out there so that it could be seen and read. I won't forget you, but I'm sure you will me. Put away the trinkets, so some day you'll stumble upon them and remember someone in your past that made you smile once upon a time. I won't be intrusive any longer, and I'm sorry if this has come as a shock. You really did mean the world to me... Remember me as your friend.
Forever and always,
Rising

A tear slid down her face as she clicked send. She stood up and walked away from the computer, glancing out the window. The sun was just setting below the horizon, the last glimmer of light out there slowly fading into darkness, but as she turned away something caught her eye. A falling star in the deep blue of the on coming night. Smiling she made a wish for the best, pulled on a light jacket, and walked out the door.

This was something written for a friend,
I think it has a happy message,
a freeing message,
and maybe even one that could hit close to home.
I hope it hits close to home...
