I just finished White Cat by Holly Black. It is set in a world of workers; people who can use special magics to do extraordinary things. But there is blowback to deal with and workers are considered criminals. Worker families are con artists and run crime gangs with their power. The book is about Cassel, who comes from a worker family but has no power of his own. He starts having vivid dreams and his past comes into question. It was amazing and I loved it.
