This is a journal of my adventures as a pokemon trainer. By the way my name is Martel...
I started out the day by turning on the TV and caught the ending of a documentary about Professor Rowan, who is the authority on pokemon within the Sinnoh region. The program got me thinking, "Wouldn't it be great to go on an adventure with pokemon". Just as I finished my thought, my best friend, Leon, came barrelling up the stairs into my room and just started going on about how the two of us should go and get some pokemon from the professor. It seemed like a pretty good idea to me and just as I was about to say something, Leon interupted me and then left just as fast as he'd come in. Sometimes he just pisses me off, but giving a small sigh I followed him and walked down my stairs. As I got down to the main floor, my mother came up to me and told me that Leon had headed home. I nodded and thanked her, but before I could leave she warned me to stay out of the tall grass. Even though I had heard the same words over a hundred times, I listened politely and then went on my way. It didn't take me long to reach Leon's house, but as I reached out to open the door, Leon bolted out and crashed into me, knocking both of to the ground. Just as I was about to yell at him, he got to his feet and rushed back into his house, muttering about somethings he had forgotten. As I got to my feet and dusted off my clothes, I began thinking to myself "How did I ever become friends with such a spaz". I then followed Leon into his house and waited for him downstairs, where his mother began talking to me about Leon always rushing about and how he got that from his father. Once again Leon interupted someone's conversation and told me to meet him up at the road just outside of town/ I nodded and bid his mother farewell and then followed him. Once I saw the road, Leon came into view and he seemed a little impatient. As soon as he saw me, he rushed over and began blubbering on about some way to get through the tall grass without running into wild pokemon. I of course knew how ubsurd his little idea was, but as always I let him do as he pleased. Just before he could dash into the grass, a loud voice called out for him to stop. Leon skidded to a halt and the two of us turned to the road heading towards the lake. There stood Professor Rowan. He then came up to the two of us and began lecturing us about the dangers of the tall grass and how reckless we were. Rowan then muttered something to himself and then asked us what we thought of pokemon. The two of us both told him that we loved them and wanted to go on an adventure with our very own pokemon. The professor nodded and then spoke under his breath yet again. Rowan gave a great big smile and placed his hands on both of our shoulders and said he'd give us each a pokemon. As he told us this a young boy, who seemed to be about my age, walked up beside the professor and tol d him that he had left his briefcase by the lake. Rowan then thanked the boy and told him that he was giving both of us eaach a pokemon of our own. The boy seemed to be a little annoyed, but gave no arguments as he laid the briefcase down and opened it up, revealing three pokeballs. Surrisingly enough, Leon allowed me to choose first and it didn't take me long to choose the fire-type pokemon CHIMCHAR. It was shorlty after I picked up the pokeball that I realized why he had given me the first choice. Leon had just wanted an advantage. He grabbed the pokeball containing the water-type pokemon PIPLUP. I was pretty frustrated at his little show and just as I reached up to hit him, Profesoor Rowan interupted and told us if we ever needed anything we could come to his laboratory in Sandgem Town. He then bid us farewell and headed on his way with his assistant. Shortly after they had left, Leon turned to me and challenged me to a battle. Despite his type advanatge me and my CHIMCHAR defeated him and his PIPLUP.After our little battle we both decided it was best to head home and rest...
Later that day, just after I had eaten lunch with my motherI spoke with my mother and told her what had happened earlier. She seemed happy that I had finally gotten a pokemon partner of my own, but sh told me that I should go and properly thank the professor. I agreed with her and headed on my way to Sandgem town, but on my way there I ran into Leon up at the road outside of town. He noticed me and told me we should show our appriciation for the professor's kindness by catching the legendary pokemon of the lake. So I, just like always, gave into him and then the two of us headed out for the lake. It didn't take us too long to reach our destination and as we did we ran into some creepy looking guy who was muttering something about the legendary pokemon, but I couldn't hear. As the man passed by mLeon and I, chills ran up my spine and I tried to ignore them. Leon made it easier byrealizing that neither of us had any pokeballs. I got so frustrated, but before I could yell at him, he rushed off yet again and I decided that I better make the best of the situation by training my CHIMCHAR. After a few hours of rigorous training, I headed back home for a short rest before I headed to Sandgem Town...
Once I was rested up, I headed out fr Sandgem and I made it into the small town with ease and I knew it was all due to the training I had just went through. The first thing I noticed was the professor's assisant walking ovver to greet me and it was then that I realized that he had been waiting for me all along. To tell you the truth, when I had first met him he seemed like a snobby brat, but now that he seemed to have calmed down, he was a nice kid. He told me his name was Lucas and then apologized for his behaviour earlier. After I told him it was okay, he took me around the town and showed me the pokemon cenetr and the poke mart. He told me all about both and then took me back to the professor's lab. Once we were inside, the professor came up and began talking to m, using all these words I couldn't follow. It was then that I realized why he had given both Lucas and I a pokemon. It seemed he wanted help collecting info on the pokemon within the Sinnoh region. I thought that the whole thing sounded far fetched, but agreed wto help him anyways. Professor Rowan then handed me a machine called a pokedex and told me how it worked. Before I left Rowan gave me a TM as well and then Lucas told me that it was a tool to teach my pokemon a certain move and that it could only be used once. As I left the lab I decided that it would be best to tell my mother that I was heading out on an adventure, but that would have to wait till tomorrow. I then decided that I had to spend the night at the local pokemon center. Before I got a room, I made sure to heal my CHIMCHAR. As I rested in the bed of the room I had rented I fell asleep to thoughts about the oncoming adventure that was about to unfold....
