Okay guys, I just have to share this story with you.
Right now (End of December), pretty all of Germany is still covered in unusual masses of snow, so, when his boss ordered my brother to get de-icing salt for the sidewalk, it came as no surprise that it was sold out everywhere he went. In his quandary, my bro eventually decided to go to a grocery store and just buy a big box of cheap table salt.
He made it past checkout when he met the disapproving gaze of an elderly woman.
"What on earth do you need so much salt for?", she asked.
"I... uh... de-frost the sidewalk?", he said, truthfully.
"But what about the hungry people in the world?", screeched she.
My brother looked at her incredulously for a moment, blinked, then offered her the box:
"Here you go, Lady, make 'em thirsty instead!"

Poetry is the journal of the sea animal living on land, wanting to fly in the air. Poetry is a search for syllables to shoot at the barriers of the unknown and the unknowable. ~Carl Sandburg
