(( I got the idea from watching the movie TiMER. ))
We were four best friends, so we figured two of us would end up together. However Mathew was gay, Kevin and Tadase were straight and I myself was also into men. So when we bothered to get the timers attached to our wrists, kevin and Tadase getting theirs first it was awkward. it got even more awkward after mine and Matthews reacted.
See, here's how the timer works. Normally you get it planted on your wrist once you turn fourteen, and then after that it counts down until you meet your true love. Then the day before you meet your love your timer will zero out at midnight. Then you have the entire next day to make eye-contact with your true love, and when you do the timer will ring.
When Kevin got his first his was already zeroed out, so when Tadase went next and got his zeroed out timer they both rang. Two straight men were each other's true loves, and for anyone else that would have been the moment to laugh, but of course because we were all childhood friends that actually brought a lot of tension, why? Well they both liked me and Matt liked Kevin. I had to force a laugh to break the ice between them.
Now let's get this settled, those two always hated each other, and not over me. No Kevin and I come from the Middle Class part of town while Tadase and Matthew come from the Higher Class part of town. Tadase and Kevin seem to butt heads a lot from money to music, if Matt and I are there then they just settle with glaring at each other. I've no idea how their hatred started let alone remember how we all met. I only know it was in Middle school and those two started a fight.
But yes, back to the timer. I decided to go before Matt while he sucked he wouldn't be with Kevin, and lo and behold mine was also zeroed out. That got me nervous because it was just me and Matt, and while we were best friends (Tadase was only his better friend) we figured we'd never date because he was gay and I was into straight men. That didn't stop him from making the occasional "had you been a guy I'd do you" joke. But when he got his...
"I guess... I'll end up having sex with you." Was all he said as ours went off. Kevin and Tadase never looked more ready to kill the meek homosexual.
After that Tadase and Kevin made sure to never be around each other, and Tadase liked to drag Matt away from me. We weren't dating, we were friends!
Of course Matthew and I tended to do a lot of shopping together not because he was gay, but because with Kevin he hated everything and every store and every person. With Tadase he was silent and non-caring and with me I was loud and he was shy and we got along great.
That's one of the many benefits of having a gay friend, the world already hates them so they're pretty accepted of who accepts them.
"So does this make us dating if we get along so well?" Matt asked me, shopping bags in hand as we walked down the mall. "I guess? I mean, I dunno, we always got along this well." I replied before taking a drink of the soda. "Shame Kevin and Tadase don't." And I glanced over at the red-head curiously, him being deep in thought. "Matt?" "Let's hook them up. If we're dating they need to date to." "Who made our dating official?" "Please we need to get them together I've listened to Tadase angrily abuse his violin for the past three weeks I can't take it anymore! We need to hook them up" "They're bound to have angry gay sex that you'll miss out on." I responded taking another gulp. "I know! But for their happiness I can miss outon it!" And then he gave a grin which I knew he took on from me. "Plus I can record it." "Evil Matthew! begone!" And I hit him with my drink.
