Story - A Past Shrouded in Mystery

Ada the Spy
Around the release of the T-Virus, Ada infiltrates the Arklay Labs by posing as a researcher. In order to gain more information on the virus, she contacts John, the chief scientist at the Arklay Labs. Ada charms John, and they become intimate in 1997.

In their six months together, John never catches on to Ada and she becomes the person of most importance to him. However, John discovers that he has been infected with the virus and will soon become a zombie. Before his death, he writes a farewell letter to Ada asking her to make the outbreak incident public and to put him out of his misery should she find him.

Around this time, Wesker catches wind of William Birkin's G-Virus. Hearing of Ada's success in gathering information on the T-Virus, he orders her to obtain the G-Virus. Ada, who is unaware that John has died, makes preparations to retrieve it in the infected Raccoon City. With the virus' exact whereabouts unknown, Ada begins her search by seeking out a reporter, Ben Bertolucci, who has inside information on the virus and is trapped somewhere in the city.

Story - Raccoon City
Crossing Paths [Approx. Time - 22:58]
In Raccoon City, Ada tries to locate Ben, who is somewhere in the Police Department's cellblock. She finds that an armored car is blocking the only entrance to the prison and leaves to search for another way in.
When she returns to the basement parking lot, she spots rookie cop, Leon S. Kennedy. Seeing only his police uniform, Ada fires at Leon, mistaking him for a zombie. He abruptly turns around and Ada quickly realizes that he is uninfected. She nonchalantly apologizes for startling him and starts to move past him. Confused and surprised, Leon stops her to ask who she is and what she's doing still running around the city. Ada explains that she's looking for Ben, a reporter, whom she heard was detained in the cellblock. Unfortunately, she can't get through to talk to him because of the car blocking the entrance. She asks Leon to assist her in moving it and he complies.

With the armored car out of the way, Ada and Leon enter the cellblock. Ada, in a hurry, runs from Leon to look for Ben. Leon yells for her to wait, but she ignores his pleas.

Interrogating the Reporter
Minutes after leaving, Ada returns and finds Leon talking with Ben, who is locked in one of the cells. Leon asks her if he's the man she's looking for, and Ada answers his question by interrogating the man in the cell. She reminds Ben that he informed city officials that he knew something about the recent events and asks him what he told them exactly. Ben carelessly asks who she is and Ada explains that she's trying to find her missing boyfriend. Brushing her off, Ben tells her that he doesn't know anything, and even if he did, he'd have no reason to tell her. Leon, who has been listening the whole time, proposes that they leave him there. The threat does nothing to sway Ben, since he has been hiding in the cell to avoid the creatures roaming the city.

A growl echoes in the distance, interrupting the conversation. Ben reiterates that he won't leave the cell and tells Leon and Ada to get out before they lead the creature to him. Leon refuses to leave and informs Ben that he's the only cop left. Ben is shocked to hear this, and he drops his attitude to give them directions to the sewers, their only escape route. Ada makes up her mind to go and quickly runs off.

Getting a Boost [Approx. Time - 00:34]
Ada roams the sewers until she runs into Leon again. Leon realizes that he hasn't properly introduced himself and takes the time to do so. Ada shrugs and they both turn to look at the shutter blocking the path leading to the other half of the sewer system. She notices a small shaft above the shutter and asks Leon to give her a boost so she can check to see if there is a way upstairs on the other side. Leon bends down, allowing Ada to climb on his back and into the ventilation hole.

Story - Leon A: The Fall

Coming Up Empty Handed
On the other side of the ventilation hole, Ada searches the area, but finds nothing except a key. She returns to the ventilation area and calls out to Leon. He asks if she found anything, and she tosses him the key. Unable to reach the hole to get back to the other side, she tells him that she'll find another way and catch up with him later.

Ben's Death [Approx. Time - 02:11]
Ada keeps her promise and finds Leon back in the cellblock, hovering over a disfigured Ben. Horrified by the creature crawling out of the reporter's body, she asks Leon what happened.

At that moment, Leon remembers the incriminating papers given to him by the late reporter and starts reading them. Ada starts to run off again, but Leon stops her to ask where she's going. She briefly tells him she has a feeling she'll find John at the chemical plant and exits, leaving Leon once again pleading for her to wait.

Teaming Up [Approx. Time - 02:47]
Finding the regular entrance to the chemical plant locked, Ada takes a more difficult route. She jumps down from a ledge, finally making it to the plant. Leon, who entered the plant just seconds before, runs to Ada and scolds her for her reckless actions. Calmly, Ada reminds Leon that she is aware of the dangers in the city. Leon pauses for a moment and sighs before explaining that it's his duty as an officer to protect her. They need to work together if they want to get out alive. Impressed by his concern, Ada agrees to join Leon for a time.

Leon Takes the Bullet
The two travel the sewers for a little while until they take a moving platform to a lower level. A female scientist spots the two and quickly runs down the hall. Ada immediately recognizes the woman and chases after her. Just as Ada catches up, the scientist starts shooting at her. Leon quickly runs over, pushing Ada out of the way and taking the bullet for her.

Stupid Leon... Why'd he have to do that for me...
Ada was unable to conceal the effect of his bravery on her emotions.
from Resident Evil Archives

Ada quickly collects herself and tries to explain to Leon who the woman was. She realizes that Leon isn't mortally wounded, but that he is unconscious. Ada tells the fallen rookie that she has to talk to the woman and leaves him there to pursue her.

Truth Revealed
Ada finally catches up with the scientist, but the woman shoots Ada's gun out of her hands before anything can be done. The scientist orders Ada to identify herself, and Ada calmly complies. Her name is familiar to the blonde woman, and she soon realizes Ada is the girlfriend of John, an Umbrella scientist. Stunned, Ada asks who she is and how she knew. The woman reveals that she is Annette Birkin, wife of the creator of the T-Virus.

Ada is shocked to hear this, but before she can soak up this news, Annette coldly adds that John is dead and Ada will be joining him shortly. She won't let anyone take the G-Virus away from her husband.

Ada realizes that the monster running around the precinct must be William Birkin, and Annette confirms her suspicions. Annette continues, saying that her husband would've been fine had Umbrella not tried to steal his research. She explains to Ada how they sent soldiers to collect the G-Virus. They shot her husband, mortally wounding him. Rather than let them take his life's work, he injected the virus into his own body. The stolen samples were scattered everywhere, allowing the rats to carry the virus to the city, causing the outbreak.

Annette adds that there is no hope for William, for his transformation caused him to lose his prior memories as a human. Worse yet, he has the ability to implant embryos that will produce offspring.

Hearing this grave news, Ada makes a grab for Annette's gun. The two women struggle until Ada accidentally knocks Annette over the ledge. Ada tries to catch her, but the woman has already fallen too far. Not really caring, she picks up her gun and readjusts herself.

Abnormal Amphibian
Ada heads down to the dumping area. As she gets down from the ladder, she hears movement in the water. Carefully, she surveys the area. Suddenly, an enormous crocodile pops out from the water and Ada screams in terror as she shoots at the creature.

Leon appears on the other side of the disposal area and spots Ada shooting at the water. She looks up at him just as the amphibian comes out to strike. The rookie cop battles the creature fiercely, and after some time, he succeeds in defeating it.

Showing Affection
Afterwards, Leon runs over to Ada, but the wound in his shoulder causes him to collapse. He tries to brush off his obvious anguish, but Ada gently hushes him and begins patching his injuries.

While Ada attended to Leon's wounds, her surprisingly feminine profile gave his heart some brief but welcome peace.
I must protect her...at all costs...
And thus the two passed the time together, quietly.
from Resident Evil Archives

After she finishes applying bandages, they share a moment of silence. Ada mentions that she found out John has died, her voice melancholy, but changes the subject quickly. She suggests that they get out of the city as soon as possible.

Birkin's Monster Attacks
Leon and Ada discover a tram in the factory and use it to reach the other side of the area. On the way there, Birkin, now a mutated creature, attacks them. The rookie cop and the spy manage to hold him off, and the monster eventually gives up and disappears.

Loss of Consciousness [Approx. Time - 04:18]
On the other side of the factory, Ada and Leon board a turntable that will take them to the secret labs. Just as it begins to move, Birkin's arm breaks through the side and strikes Ada, knocking her unconscious instantly. Leon is greatly worried that Ada doesn't respond to him, but he leaves the turntable car to take care of Birkin.

Leon returns to Ada as soon as the monster is defeated. Gently, he lifts her on to the small cot in the turntable car and stays by her side, waiting for her to return to consciousness.

The turntable reaches the labs, but Ada still has not awoken. Leon pleads Ada to wake up, but she doesn't respond. He picks her up once more and carries her out of the turntable car and into a nearby infirmary.

Her Vulnerable Side
Leon diligently waits by Ada's side in the small room. Finally, Ada awakens, and Leon, relieved, welcomes her back. Leon tells her he's going to find something to treat her wounds, so she should take it easy. She tries to persuade him not to, that she'll only slow him down, but he firmly tells her they're going to escape the city together. Seeing how much he cares about her well being, she tells him how much she's enjoyed being with him and that she doesn't want to lose him. Leon, a little embarrassed but ultimately flattered, promises her he will return and they will make it out of the city together.

Fall to the Abyss
After Leon leaves the infirmary, Ada gets up and leaves. Having to cheat the man she loves gives her no joy, but she knows that she is under orders to retrieve the G-Virus.

Leon recovers the virus by chance when Annette Birkin tries to kill him. The self destruct system activated, he returns to the infirmary to find Ada, but she is gone. Figuring that Ada probably already left, he makes his way towards the train, where he is supposed to meet Claire.

As he runs across the bridge, Ada calls out to him. She aims her gun at him, stunning Leon. Still in denial, he asks her what she's doing, but she presses on. He knows what this is about, she remarks, she just wants him to hand over the virus.

Leon can't believe the woman who had been so good to him could be this conniving. Ada emotionally reminds him that she tried to get him to leave her, but he wouldn't listen. She threatens to shoot him if he doesn't hand over the sample.

Still believing in her, Leon gently whispers that she can't do that. There is a long pause, and then Ada lowers her gun. Before the two can say anymore, Annette shoots Ada from behind. Ada's previous wounds combined with the fresh bullet wound cause her to collapse over the edge of the bridge.

Leon quickly runs over to Ada and grabs her hand before she can fall. He pleads her not to give up, but she is too weak. Close to tears, Leon continues to urge her to hold on. Feeling that it's over, she reveals her one true desire: to escape with him from everything. Weakly, she whispers goodbye, and although Leon tries desperately to lift her up, she loses grip and falls deep into the abyss.

Recovery
Just as Ada is about to fall to her death, Ada manages to save herself. She treats her injuries, and retrieves the G-Virus, which Leon, in his anger, tossed over the ramp.

Re-energized, she hurries to escape the city and perhaps see Leon one last time. Instead, she spots his counterpart, Claire Redfield, sparring with the mutated Tyrant. Ada tosses the young woman a rocket launcher as an indirect way of helping Leon. Seeing only a shadowy figure, Claire asks who her unknown savior is, but receives no response.

Story - Leon B: The Kiss
Gold Locket
On the other side of the ventilation hole, Ada spots a little girl. Frightened, the girl quickly runs away, accidentally dropping her gold locket. Ada picks it up and opens the cover, revealing a photo of the young girl and her parents. Ada finds it cute and decides to hold on to the locket for the girl.
Ada searches the area, but finds nothing except a key. She returns to the ventilation area and calls out to Leon. He asks if she found anything, and she tosses him the key. Unable to reach the hole to get back to the other side, she tells him that she'll find another way and catch up with him later.

Ben's Death [Approx. Time - 02:11]
Ada keeps her promise and finds Leon back in the cellblock, hovering over Ben. She calls out Leon's name as she runs over to Ben's still body. Leon and Ada check the reporter's body, but nothing can be done for him.

Leon remembers the incriminating papers given to him by the late reporter and starts reading them. Ada gets up to run off again, but Leon stops her to ask where she's going. She briefly tells him she has a feeling she'll find John at the chemical plant and exits, leaving Leon once again pleading for her to wait.

Ada's injury was an unexpected turn of events that she was not prepared for. When Leon returned, she urged him to escape on his own and leave her behind. Leon stubbornly replied: "Women, always trying to do things their own way...I told you I'd protect you, didn't I?"
Ada found this side of Leon to be incredibly sweet. However, she still had a sworn duty to perform. At that moment, the locomotive began to overheat.

"Be sure to get out of here alive. Wait for me."

Ada watched Leon as he went off to find an electrical source for the locomotive. Soon after, Ada skillfully managed to get the locomotive started and running again, leaving a stunned Leon staring blankly after her as the locomotive left without him...

One Last Kiss
Though gravely injured, Ada leaves the turntable. While traveling the labs, she spots Leon being cornered by Mr. X. Ada shoots at the creature, drawing its attention away from Leon. She yells for Leon to run as Mr. X inches closer to her. The creature grabs hold of Ada, but she continues to shoot at him until he throws her onto the laboratory core. The electric current from the shattered device strikes the creature, and it is thrown into the lava pit below.

Leon runs to Ada's side and catches her in his arms. Ada is losing blood rapidly, but she pleads him to leave the city. Close to tears, Leon refuses to leave her. Ada slowly shakes her head and reveals her true feelings for Leon, the one person who had shown her true kindness.

In a hushed voice and with the last of her strength, she confessed how she had been employed as a spy by one of Umbrella's rival corporations. But Leon didn't care. After all, she had come back for him...

With nothing left to be said, Leon pulls her closer and they share one last kiss.

When the kiss is broken, Ada takes her last breath and collapses in Leon's arms, her body lifeless. Shaking uncontrollably, Leon screams her name until he finally gets up and mournfully says goodbye. He promises to never forget her as he exits the unstable room.

Recovery, Only to Have to Say Goodbye
Some time after Leon leaves, Ada regains consciousness. Somehow, she locates some medical supplies and uses them to bandage the wounds she received from her stint with Mr. X. Although in pain, she hurries to escape the city and perhaps see Leon one last time. She spots him sparring with the mutated creature, and tosses him a rocket launcher as a final way of saying goodbye. Seeing only her shadowy figure, Leon calls out her name, hoping she is alive, but she doesn't respond.

Story - Escape from the City

Through the Sewers
Sore and limping from her injuries, Ada makes her way through the sewers of Raccoon City. She briefly recalls how she lost control of her emotions while with Leon in Umbrella’s underground laboratory, but quickly refocuses on her next objective – escaping the city.

A Scolding from Wesker
Ada makes her way to an abandoned hotel in the city. Searching the area, she enters a room near the lobby and discovers a man slumped over in his chair. As Ada walks closer to examine the man, Wesker begins speaking to her through a laptop on a nearby table. He tells her that the man chose suicide out of weakness.

Surprised, Ada mutters Wesker’s name. Ignoring her, Wesker scolds Ada for betraying the organization in favor of helping Leon. Ada briefly closes her eyes in thought, and then steps forward to place a vial of the G-virus in front of the screen. Now interested, Wesker tells Ada that, despite her shortcomings, she has proven her value. He informs Ada that the city will soon be eradicated. If she wants to escape, she’ll have to hitch a ride on an Umbrella officer’s helicopter. Otherwise, she will be trapped in the doomed city.

Wesker clicks a panel on his chair, causing a suitcase near Ada to unlock. The suitcase automatically opens, revealing a hookshot. He tells her that the organization needs her to survive and bring back the G-virus. Leaving her with that thought, Wesker turns off the screen.

Alone, Ada ponders the effects of the T-virus. She wonders what disaster would befall if the G-virus, a far worse creation, were to get out.

Disgruntled Employee
After her meeting with Wesker, Ada makes her way out of the hotel. She thinks about her employer, and how he manipulates people for his own ends. Ada knows that the day she stops being useful will be the day she is disposed of. The thought strengthens her resolve, and she tells herself she has to make it out of the city.

Her Last Escape
While crossing a destroyed highway, Ada has a close encounter with a Tyrant. Shortly after, Ada hears the Umbrella employee’s helicopter in the distance. Realizing that time is short, she surveys the area, looking for a way to get higher up. She climbs the rubble and hookshots a cargo box attached to the bottom of the helicopter.

The helicopter is not yet high enough in the air, so to avoid being dragged on the ground, Ada runs down the broken highway. As she begins to lift off the ground, a Hunter chases after her and snatches her high-heeled shoe. As the creature crashes into a nearby car, Ada smirks and tells the Hunter that it can have it.

Finally safe, Ada climbs on top of the cargo box and holds on tight as the helicopter flies out of Raccoon City. Another mission has been successfully completed, but not without a cost.

Story - Resident Evil 4
New Assignment, New Beginnings
Six years after Ada escapes the city with Wesker, Krauser, an old friend of Leon and Wesker's, calls for her assistance to retrieve a "Las Plagas" sample from a religious cult located in a mysterious town in Spain. She thinks about this as she looks in the mirror at the scar she received from her near death experience in Raccoon. Sadly, she tells herself that she is no longer Ada Wong, and prepares for whatever obstacles await her.

An Inside Ally
In Spain, sometime before Leon's arrival, Ada helps remove the plaga egg from the researcher Luis Sera's body before it hatches. She then has him fetch the sample she needs to complete her mission. Once he succeeds in getting it, they'll make contact. A little after this arrangement, Leon arrives. Ada sees him being attacked by the Village chief and aids Leon by firing a shot or two at his assailant. The Chief turns to try to attack her, but she swiftly fires her grappling gun and escapes before he or Leon can find out who the shooter is.

A Reunion of Sorts
Somewhat similar to their first meeting in Raccoon, Ada happens upon Leon again and playfully orders him to put his hands up. Leon quickly turns around and twists the gun out of her hands. It goes flying into the air and Ada tactically flips over and catches it, but shortly after getting right side up again, Leon greets her neck with his knife. Leon comically tells her she should try using a knife next time. The two let go of each other and Ada smoothly remarks that it's been awhile. Leon rather disappointedly realizes that the rumors about her working with Wesker are true, and Ada simply agrees that he's been "doing his homework". She craftily drops her smoke bomb activated sunglasses on the ground while Leon continues to interrogate her. When he asks her why she showed up, she let's out a cool "heh" and makes a break for the balcony as the glasses explode. Before she leaves, she mischievously tells Leon she'll see him around.

Signed With a Kiss
Ada soon after realizes that Leon and Ashley, the president's daughter, are in danger since they've been injected with a Plaga egg. She leaves a note for him that explains the procedure for removal of the egg near one of the merchant's stands, knowing he'll eventually find it.

Need a Ride, Handsome?
Not too long after their last parting, Leon stumbles upon Ada in a motorboat and she offers him a ride to the island where Ashley is being held. Somewhat embarrassed, Leon accepts. During their "cruise", Leon shyly looks at Ada as if he's going to make a move or ask her something sweet. Ada notices this and lets the boat ride out of control slightly, knocking Leon around a bit in the process. She uses her grappling gun on the side of a cliff by the island and seductively gets out of the boat. Before she heads upward, she let's Leon know she has some business to take care of and again says she'll see him later.

Fly By Advice
Knowing that Leon needed to reach the island to free Ashley, Ada follows him to the research facility, where the girl is being held. She watches as Leon finally reaches her cell and takes this chance to shoot a paper airplane with a kiss and a tip to escape through the garbage chute written on it through the prison window.

Teammate Tensions
After helping Leon out, Ada meets up with Krauser to discuss their mission. Krauser asks Ada how Leon is doing and she tells him he isn't making it easy. She queries about the sample and Krauser informs her that Saddler caught on to their plans and recovered the sample from Luis. Ada somewhat sarcastically finds the situation "perfect". Krauser quickly adds that he doesn't trust her and neither does Wesker. He threatens to kill her if she tries anything clever. Ada saucily reminds him that she's known Wesker longer than he has. He retorts that they'll see soon enough and she leaves as she agrees that they will.

Turning Against A Partner To Help A Friend
Ada shows up to rescue Leon just as he's about to be stabbed by Krauser. She shoots the knife out of his hand and both Leon and Krauser look to her. Krauser, obviously annoyed and not surprised to see her, comments that it's "the b***h in the red dress". She calmly informs him that he's outnumbered. He grunts and exits. Leon, now agitated that Ada keeps appearing and disappearing, again asks her what it is she's trying to accomplish. But again, Ada says she'll tell him some other time and coolly jumps off the platform.

Surprise Attacker
Ada continues to follow Leon closely, and makes another appearance when she sees him holding himself in agony in an underground area of the island. She asks if he's okay and, though he assures her he's fine, it's obvious he's not. He starts grunting and suddenly, the Plagas possess him. Out of control and right mind, Leon starts strangling Ada. They struggle for a bit and finally, Ada stabs Leon's leg and kicks him back. This causes Leon to snap out of it and apologizes to Ada between gasps of breath. After the two regain composure, Ada tells Leon that they have to get the parasite out of his body. He agrees, but insists he has to save Ashley first. Ada somewhat abruptly okays this and adds they should split up. Once again, she makes an exit.

A Rescue For A Rescue
After much turmoil, Leon finally finds the room where Ashley is being held captive yet again. Saddler foils his plans to free her though by controlling his body and tossing him at the container Ashley is in. Ada steps in just in time and pumps Saddler full of lead with her machine gun. This stalls the cult leader a bit, and Ada yells at Leon to set Ashley free. The moment he does, Saddler starts acting strange and both he and Ada realize he's about to use his full power. Ada immediately tells Leon to take Ashley and run. He starts to do so and Ada keeps Saddler from chasing after him by shooting explosive canisters to block the path. She succeeds in keeping him away from Leon, but Saddler instead takes her, ties her up, and hangs her from a beam on the roof of the complex. Her captivity doesn't last long, as Leon soon makes his re-entrance. He calls out Ada's name and then throws his knife at the rope binding her, cutting it. Now free, Ada starts to slowly get up. Leon asks if she's alright and she bleakly replies that she's been better. He then tells her to get out of the way as he prepares to fight Saddler for the last time. Leon and the now biologically altered cult leader exchange blows for a while, until Ada tosses a special rocket launcher out onto the battlefield. She yells at Leon to use it and, of course, he does.

Unsettling Farewell
As Saddler's shattered body stills, Leon sights the Plaga sample nearby. He bends down to pick it up and at that same moment, Ada puts a gun to his head. She demands that he hand over the sample and Leon does so. When he asks if she knows what she's taking, she contentedly lets out a "hmm". Before Leon can react, she runs off the platform and flies into the air, landing in a waiting helicopter. She mockingly let's Leon know that she'll take good care of the sample and he scoldingly yells her name in return. Cutely, she informs him that she has to go and that, if she were him, she'd get off the island too. That being said, Ada pushes a button on a device that triggers the time bomb that will destroy the place. She says her goodbyes and throws him a key to her jet ski that's located nearby. As her helicopter flies off, Leon notes the little stuffed bear attached to the key and somewhat bitterly mutters "Very cute."

Rebirth Of Umbrella
In the chopper, Ada places the sample in a protective box. Just as she closes the lid, Wesker appears on a screen in front of her. He compliments her timeliness and asks if Krauser is with her. She informs him that he's dead and Wesker shrugs him off as another expendable grunt. He resumes lauding her by saying that she's just brought them one step closer to the recreation of Umbrella. Hearing this, Ada looks down and makes a pained expression. Wesker adds that Umbrella's reestablishment will cause significant changes in the world. He maniacally laughs as the helicopter flies off into the distance.
