Oh look, I had another anime dream! Or rather I dreamed in anime.
And this is how it went~ Why? Because I have the itch to write in story mode.
I can't believe this is happening I thought, looking out one of the many windows lining the circular room I was in. Darkness speckled with stars met my gaze as far as I could see. The inside of my current place was cream with rows stretching from side to side. The outside? Round and metal with a great shiny rim.
Basically, what most would call a UFO. This was the spaceship my mother, sister, and I were using to travel to another planet. And we were never coming back. I leaned my head against the glass pane with a sigh and closed my eyes. There was little point in thinking about it.
"Wake up!" my little sister said, hitting me lightly with her suitcase. "We're here." I lifted my head from it's position on the back of the seat, very disoriented. My brain registered "get bag, follow sis", that at least was sufficient. I grabbed my suitcases and toddled after my mother and sister.
The city outside was big, but not full of skyscrapers. It rather reminded me of Enid, a little town in Oklahoma where I'd spent 5 very happy years. The whole place was so bright and sunny, it looked like a nice place to live. The streets were crawling with people of course, and their peculiar vehicles zoomed above the roads that guided them. The catch (and I had known this was coming) was that every person there was blue. Their skin hues (and not a shade of variation among them) matched the sky above, the sky so similar to my home planet. I tore my gaze away but not before noticing a few earthlings walking among them. So we weren't alone, that was a comforting thought.
My musing was interrupted by a happy cry and my mother hurrying to greet her sister. My aunt and her children were the whole reason we came here you see, I guess Leenie was lonely?
And how were we supposed to feel? My own father wasn't there!
I learned then that the city was named "Script City". The actual planet was unknown, I don't think Mom wanted to tell me.
The next hour or two was devoted to getting our stuff set up in my aunt's house. Our own residence would be set up shortly. After dropping my suitcase off in my room, I went to the kitchen window and looked outside. There were kids nearby, skating down the sidewalk just across the street. Their skates weren't touching the ground.
"Ian" I said, turning to one of my cousins, "Where can I buy those"? He obligingly took me to the nearest shop but I'd barely gotten to look around it before being dragged back to the house.
I was vexed, flying (and all manner of gravity defying stunts) had been a dream of mine since I was little.
Impossibly soon (try the next day) our house was ready. The furniture was all set up too. I dragged my things upstairs and cried out with the beautiful familiarity of it. This was the very same house we had in Ohio. I lugged the suitcases in my room, dropped them, and stood soaking in the warmth of the room I knew and loved so well. The scenes outside each window looked close enough the scenery I'd become accustomed to in Ohio that I could relax somewhat. If I stood at the right angle, I could even pretend I was home.
Mom called me downstairs minutes later. Deciding that I need both to cheer up AND get a grasp of my new town, she took me out for a tour. Granted neither of us had any idea where we were going, but that was part of the fun.
I twisted and turned my head every which way, looking at this strangely bright city and the sea of blue people inhabiting it. Normal humans became more visible, their peachy skin tone standing out well. Mom, true to her nature, spied a lovely stone cathedral and dragged me towards it. We bent down to inspect the doors, they were much too small for us or any other inhabitant we'd seen. I could only assume that some of the other planet's people were smaller than the average human. Shrugging, we continued on. A wide sweeping stone staircase to our left led to a set of doors that were our size. We smiled in relief but didn't go in, instead we followed the stairs to an open area behind them. It was cool here, and the stone walls felt smooth to my hand.
A patter of steps stopped us, my mother and I turned around. A fairly tan boy with a short mop of blond hair appeared. He was human, yet a native of the planet. (I sincerely doubted being able to say the same for his parents.) The boy stammered out that he too had been taking a tour of the church, we just happened to be going the same way. Mom nodded, believing him, then asked if he wouldn't mind taking me for a more detailed tour around the city. She had to get back to the house. The teenager (for he couldn't be but a few years younger than me) blinked.
"Umm, sure. Why not?" I heaved a barely audible sigh and followed the kid back downstairs, bidding a farewell to my mother as I went. Eh, it probably wouldn't be too bad. He seemed like a nice kid, probably going to be my first friend here.
End! -throws hands in the air- The dream was horribly vivid, dreams about going into space scare the daylights out of me. And remember, this was an anime dream. It was like watching a rather cool cartoon.
Only I was living it and seemed all too real. And now I have overstayed my stupid curfew...dangit.
