This is for my buddy Sky who apparently wants to hear my poems.... I wrote this for Betelgeuse, a star in the well-known constellation "Orion".
It's been there since I was born
And since 1934
When my grandpa
was just a young boy
It keeps hanging in the heavens
Each night eleven to seven
While the world sleeps in the shadow of the sun
So why oh why
Bright star shining in the sky
Must your light go out this way?
They say the dust has blown away
We'll see the nova every day
No I really wish that you were here to stay
Lovely light on high
Visible to every eye
When you die
You know that I will cry
You've been here since the beginning
Now we bear witness to your ending
Please just tell me why
Why oh why

Can remember what the sky
Looked like with you shining there

Was probably my favorite part, but i'm having trouble picking just one! It's all so great.
I guess I really like that part because of how it really connects everything. How everyone sees that start, and links back to the beginning with your Grandfather seeing it. It's a really touching poem! Sorry for reading it a little late. c:
