Adara's, thoughts, stories and rambles.
Who is actually reading these?
"Do you trust me?" "No."
It had been a couple days since Adara had agreed to Victor’s proposition. Any normal person would be ecstatic to hang out with Victor and his crew but Adara was her normal stone self. When he came to pick up Adara, as she didn’t even know how to ‘legally’ drive, Victor’s eye twitched as her home was bare. “Uhh…” “It’s a safe house, you would call it a flop house. Nothing more.” Blinking “wow…” trying the TV clicker “I bought it broken as I wasn’t going to watch it. I didn’t care about it, I just wanted it because all houses have TVs in them.” “I see…” Victor was realizing how incredibly difficult this was going to be, especially when he looked at the couch and how obnoxiously uncomfortable it looked. “All houses have couches?” “Yes.” Nodding he was starting to understand her world and simplistic it was. His heart ached so badly for this girl and her lack of humanity.

“Where is your bathroom?” “Upstairs second door on the left.” “Does your toilet even work?” “Why wouldn’t it?” “Ah…never mind” realizing she didn’t get the joke. Heading up he relieved himself, impressed there was soap and toilet paper, then a flash of color caught his eye. “Huh?” Turning he walked to a slightly opened door. Lightly pushing it he saw a stark white room with a couple pieces of dark furniture, but basic was an overstatement on them. But in all that blandness was his picture firmly hanging above her bed, perfectly in the middle. He could have sworn it was hung with the love that he put into painting it.

“I like it.” Victor jumped as the voice rang out behind him, he forgot she was trained for silence. “Don’t worry I have been trained to be silent on dried leaves and tender.” Turning she headed out and got in his car waiting quietly wondering if she should bring her gun, just in case. However, before she got a chance, in sat Victor “I have to be honest with you. It does bothered me that you killed, several times I’m guessing?” “578 non-listed people and 276 listed people.” Victor nearly had a heart attack at the number. “Oh my god that’s almost 900 people!” “Yes. I was told to get my target at any cost.” “Do you feel bad about all this?” “This is what I’ve trained for. I killed for the first time at four.” “How in the hell did you do that? I mean is that even possible?” “Yes. It was another child I had to kill.”

Victor started to cry “It was I either kill her or she kill me. I won.” It was too much for him to handle and he got out of the car. He was such a kind hearted guy that he now didn’t know if he could help her. Then he realized, she had no choice, she was forced to do this. Stiffing up his lip he got up and got in the car. “Okay. This is the first day of the new you.” Looking over with his asymmetrical eyes “I am going to help you get a life that you never had.” Nodding he turned on the car and headed off to the center where his crew was practicing.

When they walked in Victor was late like normal so he didn’t mind when she walked over to the trophy cage and stared at the picture of them smiling and excited holding up a weird trophy. She never saw it before but she was floored at all the pictures hanging around. “We won best crew out of hundreds around the country.” “There’s you.” Pointing to him where his eyes were shut and his mouth was trying to go from ear to ear. Victor didn’t have one snide bone in his body as he just smiled warmly “Yes that is. And the other guys, plus some more, are who we’re meeting up with to practice. C’mon they’re waiting.” Gently putting his arm around her, he felt her stiffen up but just guided her upstairs and towards the booming bass.

She didn’t know if she liked the music but her ‘friend’ wanted her to go, so like a sport she went. Her eye twitched with each boom that came out of the speaker but walked in to see a group of Asians all on their hands. “NOT FAIR!” Victor ran in and got on his hands too. “We just started.” Adara had no clue what was going on but figured she had to do it too so she walked up and went up on her hands, somewhat happy her hair was in a bun on the lower part of her head. She just closed her eyes and thought of her last story with the wind and sunshine. She could almost feel the warmth of it on her face as she got lost in thought.

Getting lost she didn’t feel her body wanting off her hands, the strain, the pain until someone tapped her face. Probably wasn’t the wisest thing as she was up and Victor’s head in her arms ready to snap. “Adara!” immediately she dropped him realizing he was the one in her deadly clutches. “Sorry.” kneeling down she gently checked on him making sure he was okay. Coughing “I was just making sure you were still alive. You were up for a long time, you even beat out Hok, which isn’t easy.” “I just drift to another place. I’ve had to be up like that for…I don’t know how long. Sorry how is your neck.” She noticed if she ever got hurt Victor would ask that so she was trying it out. “I’m okay. Thanks Adara for asking.” She nodded and helped him up. Looking around she saw all eyes were on her, nervous she stepped back ready to either run or attack. But she felt an arm slip around her. “Sorry guys. She’s my friend and having troubles in the emotion department. I figured if anyone could get her to loosen up its us.” They just stared a bit more then one let one rip. Laughing hysterically they went back to their normal orneriness. Looking at Victor. “Take a sniff.” She did and crinkled up her nose and put the back of her hand against her nose “Is that napalm?” Maybe it was her timing, maybe it was the deadpan way she said it, but everyone died in laughter at her ‘joke’.

Sitting her down they showed her their dancing moves. She watched each of their moves, studying them, studying each personality. She noticed this Ryan was moody but artistic, Hok was creative and a bit too hyper, Aris was strong and confident, Hirano was very strong and made of rubber, Feng was peaceful and respectful, D-Trix was just insane, Andy was smart and happy, Lydia was sweet and full of ideas, Steve was a balanced blend of Bruce Lee and Jet Li, and finally Victor was extremely athletic and what she thought was ADHD. Breathing hard “Do you want to try?” Victor came over and rested his hands on his knees. “I don’t know rhythm.” “We’ll teach you, we actually teach people.” “as you wish.” Getting up she cracked her body ready to learn what they threw at her.

“Okay we’re going to start with something easy.” Ryan came up and started clapping. He kept going which she started clapping with him, realizing when they clapped they did with a boom. She liked learning and now that she was dormant she wouldn’t, but then she met these guys. Maybe bumping into Victor wasn’t so bad. They spent all day teaching her rhythm and some basic moves. Even moody guy was smiling and having fun with her, unfortunately Adara had no facial emotions but they could tell she liked what they were teaching her.

“Do you have some music at home where you can practice?” Feng walked up. “Feng, her TV is broken, she only bought it for space taking something. And you don’t want to know about her couch.” “I like my couch” “Really?” “No.” he just laughed. “Well then maybe we should get you a good stereo system and music.” Hirano walked up as he did DJ too. “I can get one, if you go with me and show me what is good.” “And drive you cause those things get heavy.” Victor nodded. “Doesn’t she have a car?” Hok asked as he smacked Aris from staring at himself in the mirror again. “No. I don’t think you want me driving either.” “Why?” “BECAUSE…..she…is a girl and she can’t drive right.” Victor tried to interject but Adara opened her mouth. “No, its just when I’m driving away from a hit I’m trying to get out of there fast. And I don’t know why some cars sound like I’m driving metal into the floor.”

Victor sighed as 50 questions were flung at him. Sending Adara to sit out in the hallway he smoothed over her ex-job with the boys. It took a bit but he did and came out. “They now know…come” Smiling he offered her his hand and everyone headed off to get her music and a stereo system. While in there they asked her thousands of hushed questions about what she did, which she just patiently answered bluntly as she poked buttons and turned knobs. She learned that she shouldn’t say anything anymore to strangers and that they loved shopping for music as the cart filled…quickly. Getting a flat cart Hirano smiled “Let me get the stereo.” And walked off with Hok and Steve sitting on in right behind each other pretending they were canoeing. D-Trix and Ryan jumped on and it went from canoeing to white water rafting. “NOT WITHOUT ME!” Aris was running after them with Andy in tow. “I swear the smaller they are the more hyper.” Feng sighed but looked at Lydia “Well…you should be bouncing off the walls.” “I’m a girl.” “You don’t get hyper?” “Only in the mall.” With a smile she dragged off Adara.

“Which reminds me. How are your clothes.” “Fine.” Looking down Lydia thought a bit. “Your kinda dressed like an old woman.” “I’m comfortable.” “But…have you seen yourself in a mirror?” “No.” “that explains it. Will you trust me?” “No.” blinking Lydia didn’t know what to say. “For Victor will you trust me?” “Yes.” excited she clapped her hands. “I’m not going to make you look like a creep but I found my living doll!” “I’m not a doll.” “No…see…do…you never had a doll to dress up?” “I only dress wounds.” “Oi…this is going to be a long shopping experience. YAY!” she went on and on what she was going to do and Adara simply walked away and stood next to Victor where her body was against his. She didn’t know what to do with Lydia or how to handle her. She did like Feng though, something about his peacefulness she liked.
By the time they got up to the register there were little ‘animals’ hanging off her stereo box and two carts of music, movies, game consoles and games. Victor sighed “Guys she doesn’t have a TV tak-” the hyper herd ran off to pick one of those and surround sound out for her too screaming about who got front of the cart this time. What was funny was they were all sitting on it and not moving. Hok finally turned and in his normal British accent “Oi! Hirano! Move the boat!” Rolling his eyes with a smile he walked off and off on another white water adventure. Best buy hated them. “Can you afford this?” Feng lightly leaned down to her. Showing him her ledger “Nevermind.”

Several transactions and swipes of a piece of plastic later they were heading out loading up several cars. The only one that didn’t get loaded was Ryan’s, but then again Dalorians didn’t have much cargo room so she actually had to ride with him. He talked to her a bit but eventually turned on the music and had her clap to the different rhythms on the way home. When they got there and walked in Lydia’s eyes lit up as the guys walked around dumbfounded on how impersonal it was. “Wow…” “Flop house as you call it. I have several of them around the world.” “What?!” Victor turned “You never told me this.” “You never asked.” walking off she set some cds down in the corner. With that the boys were unloading and Lydia was taking pictures as she was thinking of all the different places the girls could shop, not realizing how much Adara hated to shop. This was going to be interesting.
