Chapter Two
Far to the east there was a city that hid between the mountains and the ocean. The birds chirped telling the people it was morning. A young lady of the name of Serenity lay awake on her friends couch. Her fingers playing with her blonde hair and her deep blue eyes staring at the ceiling. The fan went around and 'round making a still breeze go through the room. The girl was still haunted from the memories of last night. To her it was something she can never forgive. This is the sixth time out of all of her boyfriends. She was getting sick of it. No more, Serenity thought. This is the last time.
The moon glittered in the central park lake. There was a couple sitting on the bench near the beautiful glistening water. Their hands were intertwined. The boy looked down at her and gave her an innocent smile. His dark hair almost covered his dark eyes. They stared deeply into each other’s eyes. Their faces inching closer and closer together. A blonde haired girl walked alone on a path towards the lake. She saw the couple with each other. Together. With their faces locked. The girl slowed her pace and a tear trickled down her cheek. How dare he! How dare he do this to her! Her hands turned into fists. She marched her way towards the two. Once she reached them, she striked the boy unbelievably hard on the cheek. The other girl stood up and slapped the blonde on the cheek as well. The boy comforted his poor cheek as Serenity cursed at him. "You jerk! Why'd you do this! Why! You know how much I've been hurt! You know!" The other girl glared at her. "You still shouldn't punch him. That's rude. Learn some manners." "Look you! You need to learn some manners. He cheated on me! This is the sixth time my one of my boyfriends has cheated on me! The sixth time!" "Take a chill pill, ‘kay? Honestly you'll get no where with that attitude." "Why don't you just shut your mouth! You don't know anything." Serenity turned her attention to her "boyfriend". "You-you.... Argh! You can go back to your--your.... Arh!" The girl took one last look at the brown haired girl before she started walking back. "I hope you two rot in hell for all I care." Serenity took a step to the front door and made a quiet knock upon it. The door opened and a young girl looked out of it. "Sere...What happened? Wait, don't tell me. Jetz cheated on you didn't he?" The girl nodded and salty water came rushing down her cheek. "All men are jerks! All of them! All the men in the world!" she stated. "Baily...men are cruel fools!" "Oh Sere..." Baily took a hold of her friends hand, let her inside, and sat next to her on the sofa. "Want a glass of water? You look like you do." "S-sure." And this is where she ended up. At her friend’s house...sulking. She'll get over it. Won't she? Yeah I will, Sere thought, But I'll never trust men anymore. Never. Footsteps could be heard and Baily came back with a full cup of clear liquid. Even though Baily is Serenity's age, she thought of Baily as a mother. Sere lost her mother at a young age and her father left her after his wife past away. So now she lives with Baily, her best friend anyone could ask for. Baily had a mother that worked at the ranch with the snignas (horses that have a lions tail and runs faster then the normal horse would). Her father was a truck driver so he was hardly ever around. "Here you go," the brunette said handing her friend the glass. There was a few moments of silence then Baily broke it by saying, "You know the Guardians?" Serenity sniffled. "Of course I do. Everyone knows about them." "There's a rumor going around town that the Guardians don't care about us anymore. That's why there's been so many murders and dragons destroying cities." "I don't believe it. Maybe they're just...taking a break for a while." "Taking a break?" "Okay. So, maybe they don't care about us anymore. We can take care of ourselves." Baily shook her head. "If it wasn't for the Guardians we would still be in that war we had three years ago. Remember the war when everyone was in it? Even kids that were only seven years of age." "Yes. But what did the Guardians do?" "I'm not so exactly sure. But it's said that they went to the leaders and told them to stop this nonsense." "You believe that?" Sere took a drink of her water and waited for a reply from Baily. "What if I do?" "Oh my God, Baily!" The girl placed her glass on the table and looked at her friend while her mouth was down to the floor. "Only stupid people believe that. You dork." "Hey! If you think they didn't do it then why don't you just go out, find them, and ask them. That'll give you something to do; other than sulking around this house." "Baily, people don't even now what they look like. How am I suppose to find them?" "Better then just staying here in this boring place." "If you think it's so boring here, then come with me." "What are you nuts? I would never leave here. I never left here before. I'm staying here. But you just said that you're gonna go. So pack up and head out, Sere." Serenity sighed. Did she have a choice? No. I guess that's the only thing I can do, Sere thought. All right then. I will. I'll leave. "Okay, okay. I'll leave. Only because there's nothing better to do." Baily smiled. "Finally. Some adventure for you."
