The King's roses
Mendelin of Kar never had any greater hopes than to live out her life, in peace, on her father's lands at the edge of the kingdom. Her ideal day was spent in the horse barn seeing to her inheritance of carefully bred horses. A plot on the king's life, and a noble's plan to protect him changed all of that in a single afternoon. Now she holds the title of head concubine, and must keep a group of thirty women loyal and ready to fight for the secretly cruel king, while fending off would be assassins, political unrest, romantic advances and a looming invasion.
