Honestly I haven't worked out all the details since this story has just been in the planning/daydreaming phase... so. Yeah.
Uh, basically in the legends of the natives of this area, there's this shapeshifting creature that can take the form of anything it consumes and like... live as it. unlike the other creatures in the forest, this one is smart... adaptable... more human-like than the mindless unicorns and whatever. And long story short, since Destiny wasn't the chosen one (gasp!), she gets killed super early on in the story and this creature like... takes over her life? and most people don't really notice, because of the whole "blind eye to the supernatural" shmick.
Blah blah blah, we find out A/Erin is the *real* chosen one (there's a part where Aspen gives her a necklace bc they like each other, but actually it's a sacred thing from his ancestor's culture and it actually protects her and gives her powers to stop the monster???), and she armed with:
-Annie who communicates with ghosts
-Nik from the family of adventurers, who knows the lay of the land well but not the creatures, aka streetsmart but not booksmart
-Yuki from the family of researchers, who knows the creatures and magic but not where anything really is, aka booksmart but not streetsmart
-Jace, some dude who can build them weapons because he's a future engineer
-Min Hyuk (honestly why are you here?), another dude who can for some reason see all the supernatural s**t (and also has a pet yokai)
um so, they team up and try to find out what happened bc Destiny, Blink, and Charlie start acting hella sus while the supernatural biz just increases. They find out she's the shapeshifting creature at prom and then a battle commences... they win... blah blah.... the end!
